OK,let me explain you in details, basically all the jobs(of mechanical engineering) can be categorized in 4 streams viz
1.Designing & development
2.production
3.maintainance
4.Quality control
5.teaching
out of these streams, teaching and designing field are white collar(means you don't have to woork with the machines). Production stream is the toughest but usually very high paying ones are the production ones. and the remaining are also good but jobs in thosa two viz maintainence and quality control are partially white collar and partially not. So depending on these you should chose your stream and corresponding jobs.
personally I prefer designing jobs.
Regarding the higher studies you should decid whether you want to go in managment field or technical field.
SO, DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT TO DO AND BEST OF LUCK.

Okay, let me elaborate some jobs a mechanical engineer are engage at. First on factories, you can work as maintenance engineer for the machines and equipment. Next in automotive industry, you can work as an engineer specializing on your field of mechanical engineer. Then there are those in refrigeration and air conditioning systems which is also under your field. You can also work in power plants, manufacturing firms, malls, designing, contractors, even in road projects. Anything that requires machines, mechanical engineers are needed. In my experience, the worst thing you can apply for a job is a "call center agent" as it does not relay on your position.
