To minimize receiving spam emails, be more cautious in giving out your email to websites that you sign-up for newsletter or similar thing. But of course this will not totally stop spam getting into your mailbox, at least it will be minimized. For me, I maintain several emails each with their own purpose of use. I think you can picture what I mean...

Im using outlook express and Eset Smart Security got a configuration to automatically delete all spam mails that's why my spam folder is always empty.

I always get spam in my mail. Sometimes on some emails it has a link where you can unsubscribe from their mailing list but some do not. I usually just send every spam mail to my junk folder. I don't even know how much spam I get in a month, but I know I get about 5 spam emails per day!!
