It was 1999, and Spongebob Squarepants had just arrived on television. Spongebob quickly became one of my favorite shows, and looking back, I learned a lot of good lessons from watching the show. Now, when watching the show, I have noticed a lot of positive characteristics in Spongebob's character. For one, he is the most optimistic character I have ever seen. He is also extremely supportive of all of his friends, regardless of what they think of him. If we could all grab a little piece of Spongebob's optimism, the world would be a much better place.
1.Optimism - A cheery sponge with a shining personality. He is so optimistic, to that point that it gets annoying! When something bad happens to Spongebob, he never panics. He analyzes the situation, and sees it from the best point of view. For example, in one of the first episodes, and my personal favorite, "Pizza Delivery", Spongebob and Squidward get lost while trying to deliver a pizza. Squidward immediately panics, terrified of being lost, and the possibility of never coming back home. Spongebob is completely optimistic about the situation, and has faith in his "Pioneer Navigation Skills" to bring him and Squidward back home. If Spongebob hadn't been extremely optimistic, and allowed Squidward's low energy to resonate with him, the situation would have turned out different.
2. Kindness - Spongebob also has strong urge to help others. An example of this can be seen in an episode where he is asked to do a chore, building a telescope for Mr.Krabs. On that same day, he must go to Patrick's birthday party, and help out Sandy with a business presentation. Out of the need to help others, and fear of disappointing his friends, Spongebob verbally commits to all 3 tasks. At the end of the episode, Patrick, Sandy, and Mr. Krabs find out that Spongebob was trying to juggle all 3 events at once, and they feel moved by his kindness.

SpongeBob is a good show though some people see it as dumb.
yeah, sponge and pat are dumb but there more to the show than just dumbness and comedy. there are also lessons in life that you won't expect to see in a kid's show.

Spongebob is indeed a great cartoon movie for kids. The thing is, its not about fighting, or explosion which is what you commonly see in other cartoon movies. Its about life and compassion and the child will surely learn values. Its also very funny and entertaining that even we adults would be laughing. This is probably the reason why spongebob has become a hit.

This is a good discussion, and I am sure thee are a lot of people out there who like SpongeBobSquarePants, and have learned a lot from him,and I am a big fan of SpongeBobSquarePants, and me and my wife watch it all the time, because it is a hilarious show with a lot of good humor, and I would definitely say that it teaches a lot of good lessons, like even though Squidward is always mean to Spongebob,Spongebob is always in a good cheerful mood, and Spongebob would not do anything to risk his friendship with Patrick and he has showed us that in many episodes, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

hmm.. I love spongebob bob.. Me and my wife have a good laugh whenever we watch this particular cartoon. Our favorite is Patrick. I think one thing about spongebob that we can learn from is his cheerfulness. you never see him in a bad mood.. He stays positive no matter what the situation. Good lesson for kids!

I think Spongebob is teaching a very important lesson in life: be happy.a lot of people now feel sad because they don't have what they want.they feel pressured to have the wealth and partner they want.they forget to have fun and live life to the fullest.if they take a lesson from Spongebob,he is happy with the simple things in life: his job as fry cook, jelly fishing, and hanging out with best bud Patrick.

I like spongebob. Since young. Not only I like him, I like his best friend Patrick Star. Haha. He is the one I like most although he is not the main character in the show. I like his stupidity when he do things without logic and his brains are just purely rusted or purely new like it has never functioned before.
Spongebob is a nice cartoon series. Determined to work for Krusty Krabs at the beginning. Although he is childish and dumb but he is a good cook. He make good burgers that's for sure.

Hi, xtsunami Welcome to Mylot
Although I do not watch Spongebob Squarepants that often, I like the show. And yes, one thing that is glaringly obvious about Spongebob is his optimism. I do not think I have seen an episode that he held a grudge against any of his friends. It's a kid's show but, as you said, Spongebob has a lot of good qualities that adults should also learn from it.
Cheers!
