Do you grow fruit trees, and vines in your yard and garden? I do like fruit. Not only is it fresh and natural, it's loaded with vitamins. What about you? Do you like fruit too?

hi Shirley^^;; it's really good to grow fruits and veggies on our own as we can know its safe from pesticides and other chemicals. i live in a tropical country and it's easy to grow fruits. Our house back and front yard has coconut, mango, chico (or Sapodilla - Manilkara zapota), papaya, citrus(lemon, orange and pomelo), guyabano (or Guanabana, Soursop and Graviola) and avocado trees. other fruits were pineapple and passion fruits. sometimes my mother plants vegetables and root crops too that are not sensitive to take care of. Mango is our family's favorite so we have like 3trees. we want to try to plant apples but i don't know which climate it needs to grow and bear fruits..is it hot or cold?

You really are lucky, to have such a wonderful environment for growing so many things. Apples need warm weather to grow in. I just got through planting pomegranite seeds.

It all depends on the type that you decide to grow. Most of them come out tasting sweet. The fruit which usually turns red, is the part that you eat. All of the fruit, including the peeling is good to eat, but don't eat the seed out of the fruit, since that is not good for you. You can plant the seed out of the fruit, and most likely you will come out with a crab apple, which is sour. Sometimes, by planting a seed, you will come out with a good tree, but most times, it will be a crab apple.

I love fruit but do not have any in the garden yet.It is so nice to have a full fruit bowl to choose from our favourites are apples, bananas and grapes.I also got some plums this week for a change might make a pie out of them.Fruit pie is so tasty no matter what fruit you use.You can make a lovely fruit salad in the summer and a nice stewed fruit in the winter. So versatile and tasty.

I love fruit and I have an apricot tree in my garden. But in my country I don´t need to grow my own fruit as it´s very unexpensive. But I prefer the apricots of my tree, still warm with the summer sun, than boughten fruit. I don´t use any kind of pesticides so I know I can eat them out of the tree.

That is beautiful picture. I agree, picking fruit right off the tree, sure does make it taste even more delicious.

I am trying very hard, to add fruit trees and vines to my garden on a regular basis. It is very expensive trying to buy fruits and vegetables every year. My sister has a very nice orchard on her property.

I wish, One day I am going to plant an apple tree that would be nice, we don't live in a good climate for a lot of fruit trees. My grandfather used to have some nice fruit trees, he had a plum tree, a cherry tree, and 2 apple trees. Over the years the cherry and the plum trees didn't make it but that wonderful apple tree is still there today. I loved those trees.

Those fruit trees are wonderful to have. I want to plant a cherry tree. I saw one at the nursery, but it costed so much, that i passed it up, and picked two other fruit trees instead.

mango tree - one of the mango trees in our yard
we grow some fruit trees. we have 3 mango trees in our yard. we also have 7 coconut trees, papaya trees and lemoncito trees (small sour fruit). we have already enjoyed the fruits of these trees. the mango trees bear fruit throughout the year. it is the small variety of mango that we grow. we already earned money from the fruits as one vendor was looking for mangoes to sell in the market place.

Now that is very smart, to sell off your excess fruit, and make extra cash. Very good idea.

mango fruits - unripe fruits of our mango tree in our yard
Yes. We have 5 papaya trees, 3 mango trees, 7 coconut trees, 4 lemoncito trees and 1 atis tree grown in our yard. Our mango trees bear fruits the whole year round. Just yesterday, I brought fruits to the office for my co-workers. They always like to eat the variety of our mango tree. It is not sour if they are picked from the tree at a right age (when they mature). We have all enjoyed eating the fruits of these trees, not only that we get them fresh and loaded with vitamins, we get them for free.

I envy you a lot, for you have a yard and a garden and can grow fruit trees. I'm living in China, a big city not far from Shanghai. The land here is so expensive and precious, the people like me, my best dream before 30 years old is to have my own house, not an apartment, just a normal one of about 100 square meters. So what I can do now is to grow some flowers in my balcony, as for the fruit tree, I really don't know.

Small fruit trees can be grown in pots on balconies. Most of them will do very well.

You know they have the small dwarf fruit trees that do very well in pots. Maybe you could get one of those for your rental unit.

Oh, what a shame. I thought everyone enjoyed gardening. Well, you are right. There are lots of people i suppose that just do not like gardening. It's something that i enjoy, is seeing the new leaves bud out in the spring time, and watching for the flowers to come on the trees and plants.
