Apparently a study was done which showed that people who are not pshychopaths will not discover the correct answer to this question. If you have phsychopathic tendencies or are a indeed a physchopath you will know the answer. This test has been verifed by a group of pyschpaths knowing the answer whilst non psychopaths not knowing.
A woman attends the funeral of her mother. At the funeral she sees the man of her dreams, everything she ever dreamt of in a man. They did not speak and no contact details were exchanged. Three days later the woman murdered her sister. WHY?

I don't know the right answer and will wait for it. Meanwhile, I developed many ideas while reading this discussion and only one not posted here yet was:
Maybe the 'man of her dream' was not a man at all! She just found out that all she wanted was a man like her sister. Somehow it didn't seem well. So frustrated, she killed her sister!

If it is, he (or she) is probably on my friend's list. I tend to draw the strange and unusual to me.

I've heard similar if not this same one. I don't believe I'm psychopathic, but after reading through this twice, and I read it to my husband once, I told him that I believed the answer to be that the sister must have been married to the man the other woman had saw, thus it being her brother in law.
My husband agreed.

Shuush,if you think you know it, and I haven't got your sauce, promise, don't even like it, which is just as well as like you I can't get it here, which doesn't bother me as I don't like it. I do like caramac bars and suet for dumplings though which I can't get here, can you get caramac bars and suet there in Jamaica?
I think I'm about to uncover several potential murderers here and will reveal who they are later, but the longer I wait the more I may uncover.

are you confusing psychopaths or sociopaths with people with mental illnesses nostate? not the same thing at all - and incidently not what this discussion was actually about anyway. are you sure that you are the sharpest tack in the box yourself.

She murdered her sister BECAUSE she is the psychopath and didn't need a reason to murder her sister, she did it just because!

Hi Debra, I had to come back here and thank you for your support on this. I may not do any more as don't take abuse too well. I may be outspoken but not rude and abusive like it's turned out here, I don't even think disclaimers would cover keeping some sorts out. I know you'll be interested to know though that after my own bout of stalking it can be revealed that the overly senstitive soul who felt so maligned was hurling round insults re others mentally defective state in his discussion about why he does not believe in god, apparently anyone who does fits this category. You and I may disagree on god but we don't hurl abuse at each other about it.
I'll probably wait until admin are back now to see if they remove him as I'm not here to be a trollie target. But really thanks for what you said.

Okay, I have no clue. Unless her sister was married to the man of her dreams, but then she would have known that already.

hi thea I really have no idea unless the woman's sister was
also after this man of her dreams, only thing I can think of
and that really makes no sense either. hope I have no
psychopathic tendencies.wow. I hope I am depressingly normal.
As it is I am again a happy c amper. I was off line for two
and a half days, and I do think I am internet and mylot addicted but think that's pretty normal.

Hi Hatley with all the blips around here I didn't notice your absence but also good to see you back.
I shall reveal right away that you are depressingly normal which must be a relief after 83 years of normal behaviour for you now to discover.
I may not able to be here myself if more storms occur, one has hit the phone line and rendered it useless now until after the weekend when I am told a Greek engineer will turn up and fix it. But if one hits the modem as well that will be harder as none of the engineers know what they are, only how to plug them in.

Aunty this is not a joke test and I will reveal the answer later when I have uncovered the psycopaths amongst us.
Apparently a large percentage of 100 convicted murderers came up with the correct answer whilst another group of general folks showed hardly anyone to get it right.

The only thing I can think of is the man of her dreams was married to her sister, so she offed her sister to take out the competition. Am I right? Do I qualify as your friendly neighbourhood psychopath?

I believe everyone has psychopathic tendencies. Depending on what happens to make a person "snap"... Any and Everybody can "snap" at anytime/anywhere/any place, so I don't believe in such tests.

No shadow, it would not be fair to compare those school and college tests to this sort of test unless it is too necessary. What faikeijames said seems correct at one point or the other we all become psychopath or psychotic but not like a diseased one. These are the passing phases.
@thea09 (18305)

Neither do I fakieijanies but there are actually statistics which back this one up. Rather a lot of convicted murderers gave the correct answer against a general segment of the population did not.
Remember though that this topic is placed in the pe interest where certain standards must be adhered to.

Hi faikeijames. You have a reason there to not believe such test. But this test is not a definitive test. It's just a part of a series of test. This is true. As we went to school we undergone test and exams right? Say an entrance exam as an example. It is used to test you whether you can qualify for the course you want. It's not definitive but it's a basis.

Hallo Thea,
I've been asked this question a few years ago, while I was living in a dormitory with some other girls. The scary thing is... one of the girls answered it right, in the psichopatic way, I mean. We turned at her suspiciously, and we startes grinning in a nervous way... ahahahah.
Nothing happened, anyway. I didn't hear of anything bad she did, up until now. eheheh.

Hi thea,General psychology holds that human nature is too complex to make perfect prediction. The person you have certified as non psychopathic could turn out to be one at another juncture and would he/she still be labeled as a normal human being. Even Freud and Young said that a psychotic or psychopathic could be as peaceful and harmless as a normal being.
Now suppose you feel you are not but in another occasion you could show signs of a psychopath and what shall we call that? Mike has not exaggerated his account I guess. This is human traits and once people are tagged with things as tangible as a process of diagnosis it could have a negative effect on their personality.
I do not think there are that many diseased people here at mylot. just take these words as my conclusion and there is no malice in it.

Krajib - this was a light hearted discussion for a bit of fun, if you want to introduce Freud and Jung into it then please start your own discussion about it.
I will just make one final remark to you then I'd done.
EOE was quite correct in his remarks about the simplicity of the answer to this simple lighthearted discussion re the lack of empathy. His remarks were overleaf, as far as I'm concerned this is closed.

I see what you are saying...but it is my opinion that every single human being if given the right circumstance in their life at any given time in their life, could be classified as mentally ill and then be well....at another time, later on. Mental illness is NOT something to be ashamed of...it is an illness and not a choice one makes for themselves. The more it is discussed and accepted as part of living...the better off we all are.

I can only assume that it is her sister's husband..however psychopaths probably kill for reasons not known to common man..lol..so it probably the least expected reason.

Hi Sweetchariot, I shall congratulate you at once on not being a psychopath as your answer is wrong. I actually would have been suprised if you had given the correct answer as I didn't have you down as the psychotic type, but hope to uncover several before the night is over.

Hi thea, my first reaction was quite like The Lamb, but then I read ur response, and I decided I need to give it a psychopathic angle, it cant be that easy. And I came up with this - the woman is the daughter of the man - that is why she didnt need his address. Sister, in all probability, is the half sister, and possibly her rival for affections. Tell me I am psychopathic. :)

Vandana you are clearly neither a psychotic or a detective, you may rest assured. I disagree with your thinking that a psychopath would not answer this question as a common trait of pyschopaths is their intense egotism, so they would unwittingly want the attention. So you are in the clear but all will be revealed later.

Thea - u should not have mentioned that this is an indication of psychopath tendencies - till u started responding. Those who are genuinely psychopaths will not respond. I believe my answer may be the right one, so I was kind of scared to answer it. Imagine everybody out here thinking I am a psychopath! Hi folks, highly intelligent detectives and psychopaths are two sides of the same coin. One is on heads side, the other is on tails side. :) I'd like to believe I am on the side of the right. :( And about my answer to the question - it could be brother as well, father/brother or may be the sister's son. Psychopaths are generally from such backgrounds.

hi thea^^;;
i am too late to respond here and i am not that honest not to read the other responses and i ran out of idea to share about why she murdered her sister. but the first thing that came in my mind is that she is jealous of her sister as to what most say.
how about you, what was your first guess when you read about this study?

yes thea, i have gone through all the pages and page3 has some responses proved themselves being that even they didn't get the correct answer but their rantings...
they are the one's i guess.
i really thought this is just for fun, and was even thinking what if i got the correct answer hahaha
