Internet Explorer Vs Firefox or Internet Explorer with Firefox?

I have heard that mylot works faster with Firefox than with Internet Explorer. I am using Internet Explorer 7.0 with windows XP Service Pack II, should I install Firefox alongwith Internet Explorer or firstly uninstall Internet Explorer ? Where can I get it free of cost??

I go for Mozilla Firefox. Probably the best browser to date.
