Do you talk with yourself?

When I'm worried or scared, I find that I talk to myself (out loud, mind you) as a means of calming myself. I also do this when I'm faced with a particularly difficult task, saying things like, "So how do we do this?" or something like that. Do you have this habit as well or do you just think I'm weird? Nyahaha. Perhaps I am.

I talk to myself mostly to help me calm down. It also helps when I try to avoid arguments if I try to say out what's on my mind. Some people think I'm crazy, but even when I shop I talk to myself and say out loud what I think the pros and cons of a certain product.

OMG! I totally do that! When I'm out shopping as well. I think it sort of creeps out the sales people around. LOL

What would make that even more interesting is if they actually ask you to get out of the shop. Then start whispering to yourself like someone I know... LOL

I also do talk to myself, specially when I'm really stressed out in making a report. I would talk to myself about what should I put in there, what are the risks, recommedations, and the likes. i find it more helpful rather than just thinking about it.. Though I don't talk loud, i just whisper things ( does it make it more creepier? hmmmm.. lol. ).. anyway, I think my the people seated near me already knows that I really do this, and that it shouldn't be any bother to them. hehehe.

hahaha. I do talk to myself. I live alone and I do things on my own, so I have the habit to talk to myself at home. At work, if I prepare a presentation or present my ideas to people, I practice at home and phrase myself...and sometimes, I screw up I also tell myself. I self criticise. It's better than coming from other people. hehehe...I don't think it's weird. It's natural.

actually when I critisize myself, I am my worst nightmare. What I do is I think of the worst thing and tell myself that this is what it is. And I try to do my best to prevent my worst nightmares from happening. And most of the time I am more prepared and more confident about what I do. And when other people makes comments about what I do, its usually more a compliment than how I imagined it to be. So, talking to myself and critizising myself helps me become better with what I do.

Yes, I do. I'm faced with a hard choice right now and it feels better to talk about it. It would be nice to talk to someone else about it, but I don't have anyone else to talk to about it. Anyway hope this helps.

Actually I think the reason that I talk to myself, it's like I'm talking to God. I'm trying to send a prayer to God to help me get out the situation I'm in. God is listening to me and is telling me how to help myself. I know it sounds crazy but when you're in a terrible situation and you get that little voice in your head telling you what to do. Follow it, it's usually right even when it seems wrong.

I don't talk to myself aloud, but once in a while I do it in mind. As far as your habit is concerned, I think what you are talking about seems similar to what they call a pep-talk or giving affirmations. I remember hearing from a spiritual guru that affirmations are actually momentary quick-fixes but won't do good in the long-term. He added that when you give affirmations to yourself what you are doing is suppress the negative thoughts and not shun them away, only to have them surface sometime later on. To alleviate the negative thoughts emotions, breathing exercises are a better bet in my opinion. Maybe you could try subjecting yourself to stuffs like yoga, pranayama, meditation etc.

Just quick-fixes? So there's possibly something at the root that needs fixing?

I talk with myself most of the times when I get piss over things, person or if my plans fail and even during the feeling of joy and sadness. Thus, I find myself talking even in front of the mirror when I am practicing my facial expression when practicing during my upcoming interview in that way I could see the manner I talk, my eyes and lips or the proper gestures. Thus, i could judge by myself if I am doing well or not. But, most of the times I talk only in short words not really in long sentences as when someone heard me they would think O am crazy. So far i only done it moderately.

Now that I know what I know because of you folks here? Let 'em think what they want to think as long as you are comfortable with yourself.

Working on it, sire. Always. If I let my guard down I slip into my old ways of being my worst critic. Now I'm my best friend.

I used to but I realized that it may not be good if I continue doing that hehehe. I tried getting rid of that habit but I still do it sometimes especially when I am anxious or worried of certain things. It really helps me calm down and helps me think of probable move or tasks to do. :D

Yes, I do this regularly.. to test my self about my body language and presentation skills. I feel its very important to improve the confidence and really enjoy this kind of activity every time while I do in front of my mirror.
I suggest all those having stage fear must do this kind of activity to over come various feeling and its really good habit.

I talk to myself all the time, it helps me work through problems when something hits the fan at work or anything else that I have problems with. I have done this ever since middle school, and I don't think I'll ever stop from doing it.

Ever since I was a child I have talked out loud to myself. I used to say it was because I was the only one listening to me. Now it is just a habit I can't break. I think it begins with thinking out loud and it just becomes a conversation between me, mysel and I. I believe there are a lot of people who talk outloud to themselves. I don't think there is anything weird about it. If there is, then i guess i am.

It's great when you can have a real conversation with yourself. I think it helps you form a better picture of who you are.
