I have almost fallen asleep while driving. I have had those days where I have stayed up all night long and gotten few hours of sleep and had to get up for work. It has gotten so bad where I find myself almost going off the road. I know it is not safe for me to drive while really tired. I have done it. I try not to stay up all hours of the night when I have to be up at a certain time. Sometimes I can't help it and other times I just can't sleep. It scares me to drive when I am sleepy. I really try not to do it because I do not want to fall asleep while driving. It is so dangerous.

I agree. It's best to stay safe. I advise pulling over and getting out of the car the next time you feel drowsy.

I have not actually fallen asleep for a long time while driving. I do think I have dozed off at the wheel before though. I get so sleepy driving sometimes, especially if the sun is in my face.

I've never fallen asleep while driving and don't plan to! A friend of mine had actually had a very bad car crash because he fell asleep while driving home from work. He ended up having to be hospitalized and now uses a wheel chair.
If you find yourself getting tired while you're driving, pull over and take a few breaths of air. When you get in the car, you'll be more alert.

Hi tuckersheri, I had encountered such awesome situation many times. I had been working in a remote small town for two years few years back. It was located two hundred or so km away from my hometown. I had to drive for nearly two hours to reach my destination.
There was totally no problem to drive to the working place. Yeah, this is because I always left for the small town in the late evening together with one of my colleagues. She lived quite near to my place. Having someone to chat on the journey I wouldn't sleepy for sure, for we had so many interesting stuffs to share with
Sometimes I had to travel back to my hometown alone in the Saturday afternoon. My colleague would stay there for her personal affair. I always felt tired after the hard day work. After taking meal I drove my car home straight away. I always felt drowsy under the scorching sun. It's worse still with a full stomach! My favorite music didn't keep me to be energetic too. To avoid risky situation I usually would have a pause at the roadside. I used the bottle of cold water to wash my face and then wiped my neck with a wet towel.
I then carried on my journey after feeling refreshed and energetic again
Take care and happy posting!

There were cases that I have to drive even when I am very tired. There is always the possibility of sleeping. In my case, however, I have never been so tired that I would sleep as I drive. It is very dangerous and worst than that, you may also endanger other people. So if ever it comes to a point where I really have no more energy to continue driving, perhaps I will park for a while in a safe place and take a little nap.

Plenty of times. I worked third shift at UPS for about three years. Plus I went to school full time and worked a day job baby sitting. I remember waking up because my tires were bumping on the emergency lanes on the interstate. Scary but true. I think its reality for alot of people. Thank God I was never hurt or never hurt anyone else.

I did fell asleep when I was driving, even though it was for a couple of seconds & had a minor accident. This was because I didn't sleep the day before & I realized from that day that how dangerous it can be, when you sleep while driving
Happy Lotting

not me but my late husband. in the past, i saw that he was sleepy and i told him to be awake and alert. it usually happened when we are on out-of-town trips which normally took us 3 hours to reach the place. plus, we usually left the city very early (at most times, at 4am or earlier) in the past to avoid traffic. to keep him awake, i didn't sleep while traveling. i made it a point to stay awake and talked to him while driving. i kept him company for the duration of the trip as all other passengers (my children and other relatives in some instances) usually slept throughout.

I have many times dipped my head while driving. It happens often when I am driving on the highway when the sun is hitting me just right and it is just cozy in my car and often times I am listening to easy music as well. I hear people say turning the air conditioner on to keep your self awake or listening to loud music. I also get tired if I have not ate breakfast or am getting ready to eat lunch, low on nutrition makes me sleepy behind the wheel. In the end falling asleep behind the wheel is dangerous and should be prevented if possible.

The last time I was fallen asleep while driving was last year. Luckily it only happens for a mere seconds or two because I was woke up by the screaming sound that came from the music that I played from my cd player. When I realize it I was in between an MPV and a bus. I was so damn lucky nothing bad happen to me. Since then I always try to get a good rest before driving especially in the night.
