Do you think going to the movies is too exspensive?

I went to the movies the other day and the price to get into the movie was not bad. The pop corn and drinks were to exspensive. I spent five dollars on al large drink. I spent alot of money. I got a large drink, popcorn, and a nacho for seventeen dollars. It was awful. They really get you on that stuff. All together I spent around thirty dollars. I was not happy with that price. I did enjoy the movie but I didn't enjoy the price of everything together. Going to the movies is very exspensive theese days.I would rather take a big bag and bring my own snacks and a few cans of soda. It would be alot cheaper for me.

I think going to the movies is very expensive. It is also inconvenient for us too since we live 15 miles from one of their businesses anyway. It is alot cheaper to watch movies at home.

Yeah I do think so. I am really not a fan of going to the movies anymore because of the high price and the annoying people I sit beside with. I also am not comfortable in amovie house because I can't do anything I want to like raise my feet, etc. I know a lot of people do that but I don't like it because I just don't think it's appropriate to do that in a public place. I am more of a TV fan. i watch the movies on HBO, Star Movies, etc. They're free and I can do anything I like without anyone getting bothered. I can get food on the fridge so i save even more, lol. watching movies at home is still more satisfying for me.

I do. Going to the theaters is outrageous!!!! I would much rather go to Movie Trading Company and buy 3 or 4 movies for the price of one movie ticket. I really want to see Paranormal Activity, but is something called XD and it's 12 PER ticket!!! It's crazy.

The little movie theatre we have in the next town over is one of the cheapest places I've ever seen a movie: $2.25 before 4:00 and $4.50 after. The snack prices are still murderous, though. This theatre isn't very nice, and I think they keep the price low by not remodling or updating the equipment. When I lived in a bigger city, movie prices were about double the small town price, but I was more likely to go, because the experience was so positive - comfortable seats arranged stadium-style for a clear view and high-quality audio and video.
I'm happy to see that so many other folks are sneaking their snacks, too. I rarely go to the theatre anymore, but I almost always bring my own snacks, always have. Most of my family and friends do too, but I have a few friends who love the greasy popcorn or salty nachos at the movies so much that they'll always spend the money.
Personally, I prefer a mail order rental service like Netflix, for the selection and comfort of watching at home, as well as for the price. But some movies really need to be seen on the big screen to fully appreciate the visuals.

...Hi tuckersheri, What you just said is the key to the whole thing. They make the money on the concessions.I read that somewhere a long tie ago. Raising the cost of the movie ticket above a certain dollar amount would drive the customer away. Already, families are investing in their own movie theater equipment or just renting movies to watch at home. So increasing the cot of getting the movies is not a good idea unless you want to lose more people. So they keep raising the cost of the snacks, and you always want something to nibble on when you are in the movie. The smell of the popcorn is just too enticing, and you must have a drink to wash the popcorn down. This is what they count on. It would be cheaper to bring your own snacks, but they frown on that, their profits would suffer. Take it easy.

I use to work at the movie theater (circa early 1990's), I didn't like it, because people would come to the concession stand and gripe about the prices of the snacks. We use to go to the movies, and we could tell the concession worker how much "piping hot" cheese we want on our nachos, or order a bag of "fresh-right-out-of-the-popper" popcorn and icy cold sodas and maybe it would be a little worth the price, but now everything is prepackaged and sitting in "warmers", yuck! I hope I don't ever have to work at another movie theater, again, although the only good thing about it is free drinks, free popcorn, and free movies. Now I like to watch movies, in the comfort of my home with my family and make our own snacks.

Here in Brazil they(government) did a nice job. Brazillian movies now are free for students! So, it improves culture of people for free and it's a very good thing to have fun. But man, you don't need to buy all this stuff to watch the movie, when I go to the movies I try to go somewhere just to eat after seeing the film, like restaurants, snack bar or something like this.

I would agree with you going to the movies is expensive these days. I only go to the movies now for a film that I must see on the big screen, otherwise I will wait for the DVD release.
I used to work in a movie theatre when I was a teen and a policy most of the theatre have if someone complains and the complaint is valid they will issue a complimentary cinema pass for you. So that is just a little tip tip if you have a complaint to raise, ask for a manager and discuss the issue.

i agree with you, going to movies is really expensive these days especially here. we seldom go to movies anymore, what we do is buy DVDs, or rent them. i cook our snacks, or buy junk foods at the grocery, 1.5L bottle of coke, and its ok for all of us. much cheaper than going to movie houses.
i know going to movies are far better than watching videos at home, but with the financial crisis going on, i'd stick to watching videos at home than going to moviehouses.

It is expensive but I still think that going to the movies is an experience. It's great sharing a movie with a multitude of people who will ooh and ahh along with you or boo, however the movie turns out. I don't do this very often though because of this.

For the usual times i think it's quite an expensive way to watch movies in cinema.Only when you are in special times such as hang out with a boy you have alreay fallen in love with,it will be the best place for you two to kill time in.
During that time you can have a sweet time with him or her

Yeah i definately agree that movies are way too expensive these days, the price of the ticket isnt bad but, the food that pepople pay for is ridicilious. Most people can get the same thing that you did for maybe....6 dollars at a palce like taco bell i mean come on. Isnt there a stat that movie theaters make more money selling the food than the tickets?

Now a days,it is expensive and waste of time.I rarely visit cinema hall to watch a film.I prefer to watch it from home in television.Watching film with friends in a theater is nice experience in my school and college days.It is very difficult to forget those happy days.

way too expensive.
i either wait til it's on cable,or get the dvd at walmart.
price aside,at least i know at home i have a clean bathroom with toilet paper, and other people's kids aren't screaming and running around the theatre unattended.

hello tuckersheri,
find it expensive too especially when you watch with your family. and because of this, we decided to rent movies at home instead in a movie theater. this way we can watch a lot and eat a lot as well. it's more economical.
we only go to the theater when i have my token for the whole family. the company that i am working with is giving us a token every quarter. and it's all up to us to decide what token to get like, movie pass, umbrella, raincoat, eating in the restaurant, for saloon, donation for the kids and the likes. good thing we have this benefit so we can relax once in a while.

Well the price here for the movie alone is quite high. I rarely go to the movies anymore. I used to watch movies every week with my wife. Of course, I also have no time to watch movies considering my busy schedule. But even if I have the time, I do not care to watch anymore. The cost is really expensive here. I might as well enjoy the time with my family somewhere outdoor or in the beach.

I don't think this is too expensive .you know ,after the company 'll use thsi to earn money ,so if the moive price is decease .the moive company can not earn money ,so if you think going to move is expensive .you could choose buy DVD .
And I think buying DVD is a good choice

Going to the movies is indeed expensive these days. I go to the movies at smaller movie theaters because the price of the movie itself is a few dollars less and the snacks make big a difference there. I had a big soda for 2 dollars instead of 4.5!!
