We are in the recession period this time,so we are no longer sure of the stability of the company that we are working at. Just like in the company that I am working, they lessen the number of employees from 220 employees down to 100 employees. Just to let you know, our company is already included in the top 100 companies in our country, but still they experience recession. So unexpected things can happen anytime. If in case, Do you think you'd: * still look for work in your industry. * take a whole different perspective on life and head off in a new direction. * focus on online businesses With this, if in case it would happen, but I hope not, I still look for work in my industry, since i have been in the industry for 2 years and one half so it won't be hard for me to find a job in the same industry. What about you, what are your thoughts and insights about this?

HA! I'm jobless now! I was working for USPS and the idiot Post Master terminated me! It seems like if you don't (or refuse) sleep with boss or kiss their a$$, they either get rid of you or give you all kinds of grief (and that includes demotion). The best thing to do is find a job or career that suits your interest, rather than worry about the salary, when do something you like, the $$$ will always increase. When the boss gives you a hard time, document what they've said and their actions towards you, do that way when they try to fire you, you can take your grievance to someone over their head and if they're not willing to listen, either then take it to someone over their head. But never give up your morals to working.

Well, first of all we are in the same country and I totally know where you are coming from. Most of these industries really lowered their number of employees, but now where I used to work. Call center industries are still looking and even hiring for employees.. That would be a good way to start. Although some of these call center industries does not offer that much salary, it is better than none. You may find me a little bit weird but I got tired from doing the same thing over and over again, so even with the fact that it is hard to find another job, I resigned, decided that it would be better if I work at home. Thanks to the internet, I have been earning more than what I have earned at the call center industry. I have made my way through freelance writing and with some of my basic html skills.. :)

It's good that you decide to have your own business rather than working. At least with this kind of decision, you are the boss, you are employee, you are the one who is monitoring the business, you know what is the problem of the company. i hope you will be successful to it. happy mylotting!!

hello rberon, I don't know, am actually almost been out of that industry nearing two years now. i know it's still recession, there's still so many jobless out there most specially after this typhoon and another one coming. my thoughts? i really don't know. you kept asking when am i going to apply again, i have no idea, i think about starting to go with other profession. although, if it's so strict then il try to get back that industry. you're blessed with that job , make sure you keep it for a long time.

[/i] I'm so sorry letran, i don't have an intention to offend you about the job. I just want to help you or you might be interested in going back to the industry. I can see that you have the potential and skills that is why I am trying to push to try again. But if you would want to try other professions and you think you will excel in that profession, just go ahead, we are at your back to support you.

well .. till date i am having vary busy time every day , by profession i am a freelance software developer and software trainer (taking lectures of languages in college) my day begins at 5:30 am from that i have continuous work till 8:00 pm , so if i am jobless (all though i am self employed so here meaning for jobless is having no work and no customer) then i will first of all go for 5 days holidays (doesn't mean i will travel , i will be in my home only , but i will not focus on the tension of having no work) and mean while i will concentrate on other better options that i can do,(at least good) i believe that god has given me two working hands, good brain, and programming skills(every one has some thing which is unique , and that makes the difference, one has to find what he can do, in which field he/she is comfortable, and loves doing that work ), so the phase will be changed for sure, so i think i will enjoy this joblessness for few days....

Hi friend, In such ecnomic crisis period, unemployment is very common in most countries and cities. If i happen to be unemploied tomorrow, i woud look for work in my faimilar field. Unemployment is terrible for me, as now i have to pay house debt every month. So i have to get a new job after i lose job. It would be easy to find a new job in my familar field, as education backgroung or work experience plays a key point to be emploied.

"In such ecnomic crisis period, unemployment is very common in most countries and cities." In this statement, actually, our country is included here. we are really suffering. Recession is really observed in our country. With regard with the job that you have, it won't be hard for you to find a new one since it is really needed. I am a teacher also by profession but I hate teaching, it is not my passion.

I think this post is the best topic ive ever seen today. yes you are right, although it is a big company it doesnt mean that it will not be affected by the recession. I am working with the one of the most outstanding company also but unfortunately they didnt regularize me and my contract will end this October end of the month. There reason is because they will liquidate the division that I assigned with. We are just 4 employees there and the rest are terminated. i really felt sick when i realized that at the end of the month I dont not have a work already. My plan is, i will concentrate in online bussiness.

"I think this post is the best topic ive ever seen today.".Thank you for appreciating this discussion. And I'm really sorry to hear your situation. if I may ask, since you have mentioned that you belong in one big company, aren't they have any other departments where they can probably endorsed you. I have also experienced that last week, from 240 employees, they just retain 100 employees, but they find a new accounts for us, I was endorsed in a new department. you may try to ask them.

if tomorrow i find myself jobless, that would be my second retirement. the first when i was 38, i availed of early retirement from a foreign bank. i had decided to do other things aside from employment. i had to stop working for 2 years but later found my way to employment again. i thought it was early for me to retire at that age and i felt bored at home. so, i ventured into applying again at age 40 and lucky enough to be in my present job. my two children are off college and one is actually employed while the other one just passed the nursing board. the youngest is in 3rd year college, so if i go jobless tomorrow, that would be it ... enjoy my aborted retirement which i attempted 15 years ago.

Congratulations to your child for passing the board examination for nursing. So, if in case you will be losing your job, there will be no problem with you, correct?Anyway, you have just tried to apply and you never expect that you will be employed again after the retirement. With me, I can't lose my job since my family depends on me and I am also preparing for my future.

If i find myself jobless, then i would start scamming! I have found that as the only solution for unemployment these days. And that's the field of work most of the jobless people are working at. I'd better call myself a loser by then as everyone i the field are. Though I'm joking now, I'm sure this is true. All dumbos are doing this.

It is really hard to be jobless in this period. thanks for the input. happy mylotting!!

Yes, with the downturn of economics, we are no longer sure of the stability of the company that we are working at. Although it is stable at this time, it may face a smashup later. If I meet such a situation tomorrow, my best choice may be focus on online businesses. Yes, it seems so difficult for me to look for a new job nowadays, so I may pay much attention to make money online for I am familiar with it. Of course, if the economics are in a upturn later, I will try to find a new job. Happy myLotting!

hi! I'm unemployed right now. I just resigned on my jod as a customer service in a call center last year. Though that happened, I believed that someday I'll get much better and highly compensated job that is related to my profession, I'm a nurse by the way. Today I'm just doing online job and do some small business. You can still earn money though your not employed.

If I may ask., why did you leave the industry. Here in our country, it is the highest paid worker. I also work as a customer service representative and have been in the industry for almost two years now and I am really enjoying it. But anyway, if it is your decision, i have to respect it, you are correct that you can still earn even you are unemployed, you just have to be resourceful. I would like to welcome you to the site. This is really a good site to share your insights in different topic at the same, while sharing, you are earning. hope you enjoy the site. and thanks for your input.

If I were in your shoe, I would start using my time looking for a better work opportunity. It doesn't really matter if I stay working in the same industry. What is important is the money I will be earning... Once a door close, another opportunity will come in...

When I lost my job two weeks ago, that is actually what i did, I look for another job with the same industry, i am very glad and very lucky that my current company still called me and ask me to go back in their company because they still need me. I was just transferred to another account, which is better than my previous account. We should always be prepare everyday, cause things is to come unexpectedly.

Jobs are very scarce around here. I'd be out and peddaling my butt looking every day and all day in hopes of finding something else. I would at first focus on what I know because I've been doing this same job for so many years but I've done other lines of work. I would not be oppossed to trying something else. I'd do pretty much any job in order to bring in a paycheck. I have a daughter to support and I can not go without working....just can't. My job seems pretty stable so far but as you said, anything can happen.

It is good to be prepared for any eventualities. Most especially in this current situation. Well, the important thing is to consider which area are you good at. If ever you feel comfortable in working such industry then it would be suitable to find a similar job. But if you find that you have something with that you might be able to develop and gain, then why not. There are a lot of options, the decision is entirely up to you and you should think well before making a decision. It would also be wise to work in one and have another one as a sideline if the time permits.

That is correct, you should be prepared in all the things that will happen to you. You should always have back up or like part time job so that you will know what to do. With the current situation of our life, we do not know if our company will still be that stable. As much as possible, we should save some amount so we will be save in something happens. Thanks for a great input. happy mylotting!!

This happened to me back in December 2008, it has almost been a year now. I am still jobless, by the grace of God, I give thanks that it came at this time in my life. All my children are grown and no one is dependent on me but myself. So that make it better for my dependents. I am surviving, I give God all the glory for that. To answer your question. If I would happened to look for a new job it would be in another direction. Because the industry I was working for was the automobile industry and I don't have much faith in that kind of industry any more. If you have faith that the industry you are working in has a great chance of surviving I would stick to it being that you are familiar with it and have the knowledge of your work and career. I wish you great blessings with your job and industry.

You are correct, if we have faith on our job, and we really love it, we can get to stay in the company for a long time. It's good that you have a children who support you, I am still looking forward for a new job for you. happy mylotting!!

I would start by looking for jobs that I had experience with but I would not limit myself to them. I think that in todays economy that a person must be versatile in the job market. Demand has changed for the type of jobs that used to be popular. I would even consider furthering my education into a different field if need be. I wouldn't want to do anything that I could not be content with but it may call for that if I lost my job now. I have been with my company for 11 years and it would be a huge lifestyle change if I lost my job. I think that in some cases we have to do what we have to do to make it.

That is good idea. We should be versatile, we should not only focus on the industry that we are working at. We do not know if there will be available position in other company if in case we will be losing our job. Furthering of studies in other fields is a good point, it would help you a lot, you can do it as an alternative if in case you will out of your job, thanks for this great output. happy mylotting!!
