Friends what according to you all is the most essential requirement for happiness? No matter what we possess, we are still not happy with what we have. Wealth makes you happy to a certain extent, and when one is love one is happy until other things take over. I have seen some of the most ordinary people leading very contented and peaceful lives with bare essentials. One may say that they lack ambition , but at the end of the day , I feel what is most important is to look back on your life and remember the bygone days with a smile on your face. So what according to you all is the most essential requirement for a happy life Please share your views here ...

Hi Kiran, Happy Diwali to you, I know it is belated. Hope you celebrated the festival well. I think happiness not depend on a particular thing. If there is enough money but no love and peace then how can be a person happy. We can’t buy happiness with money so the money can help only a certain extent. It is also true that without money we can’t get the necessary things. So can’t eliminate money too. If there is love among people then peace may come automatically. According to that theory Love and money can make happiness.

Hi Sreekala, by the time I came with the response it is already approaching Xmas...We did have a good time during diwali and I hope you too had the same. I agree with your views that happiness comes with a combination of many things. Money is of course necessary, but so are other things like human values and relationships- all the best and have a great weekend

I think these two words have been playing on my mind lately. They are acceptance and contentment. I think when one has learned to accept his or her current situation in life, whether rich or poor and etc, then contentment will sink in. That is why, perhaps there can be rich and non-happy people as opposed to average but happy people.

Hi zed, What you say is very true. I too feel that once we come to terms with our life and adjust accordingly things are bound to look up. It is not really essential to have a lot of wealth or other material things. Al the best zed and happy mylotting

That's right, Kiran. I think happiness is more important than anything. Someone can be super rich but can be not so healthy and that's not that good too..

I think inner pace is the most important part of being emotionally healthy and happy. If you have lots of riches but yet you are unhappy with your life and family it will be horrible. If you have very little but you are at peace you will be happy no matter what.

I agree with you that inner peace is very important for anyone to be happy in life. Riches and immense wealth bring in their share of worries and unhappiness. So possessing less is more in terms of happiness I guess - all the best

love is my true happiness.. if i found out that i have my family, friends and loved one who love me that much, then I could not find any reason to be sad...

It is nice to know that you have found happiness in love. But the irony of life is that things never remain the same there are always changes both positive and negative. But when we are able to conquer them and remain happy and at peace that it is really great - may you be always happy with your loved ones

Hi Kalyani, plz call me kiran, we are all on first name basis here with no tags( Ji) attached ...I agree that the most important factor is inner peace and as long as you are content nothing else really matters. Wealth definitely cannot make you happy, it can at best make you comfortable...thanks a lot for sharing your views, and have a nice evening

Man are greedy being. Their desires are limitless. We are actually never satisfied with what the nature has ordained for us. like its said "The grass always looks greener on the other side" It doesnot matter whether U are rich or famous But a man is a happy man The moment he learns to get along with any circumstances in life without complaining.

Hi jimmy,No doubt that human beings are greedy and would go to any limits to get more and more little realising that this hardly makes them happy.I agree with your views that a person is happy only when he/she learns to be happy with whatever he/she has..thanks a lot for the response and happy mylotting

Hi Kiran! I think the one who is not contended from inside cannot be happy, even if s/he has plenty of wealth at his/her disposal. Wealth or say money is not everything and it is said that money cannot buy everything, which included happiness. We may feel happy in wearing simple clothes, instead of flashy or gaudy clothes, it is our inner thoughts and state of mind which make us happy from inside and only we can feel it.

Hi deepak, Absolutely, i too feel that happiness is a state of mind and has very little to do with materialistic things. I have seen simple things giving us much more happiness, like watching a lovely sunset or a lovely sight of nature can make you spellbound and happy. At such times everything seems right with the world ....have a great weekend deepak and all the best

The age of a person matters in this .When we are young it is our academics and our going out to various places matters .at a later age the friends circle and again money to dress well and going ou with friends give us pleasure .After marriage money to have a luxurious life and love in the family gives happiness. But in course of time all this fades and we feel like we need something else .It is at this stage that we realise that wealth love and every thing else is only secondary .It is the peaceful mind that give us true happiness. So on the whole we derive happiness only from inner peace.

Hi, I agree that we have different priorities at different stages of our life. But if one is able to achieve a certain amount of balance right from an early age and not be too greedy it is possible to be happy with whatever we have ...all the best and happy mylotting

kiran to be happy is to think of today only as yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not yet here. all you have is today, so be happy today and thank God for all you do have, not for all you do not have, and make up your mind you will be happy today. As old Abe Lincoln himself said, men are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.Nobody can make you happy, you have to do that for yourself.

The only requirement for happiness is that you make a conscious decision to be happy. You can see the glass as half empty or half full and if you choose half full and maintain a positive outlook you will be happy regardless of what events may occur in your life.

Hi Canellita, thanks a lot for your response, ones happiness is in one's own hands. One cannot be happy all the time since we all face pressures of some kind or the other, but if one is determined to overcome all these adversities, one is able to be happy most of the times and as you say being positive is very importantin life- all the best

I can summarize being happy into three things. First Satisfaction, every people or person who are satisfied is happy but not all the time if they lack the other two. Second Contentment, one must be contented to what he/she has. Satisfaction plus contentment is a good way to be happy but it wouldn't be complete without the last one. The last one would be Peace of mind.

Hi hexeduser, thanks for your views All very necessary ingredients for happiness. But how many of us are able to enjoy it? Happiness is a state of mind that is essentially within oneself..

..Hi there kiran8, I think that each person, as an individual has to decide what happiness means to them. From there, you set out to get as close to your definition of happiness, as you can. I also think that we are born with certain genetic tendencies, which tend to make us possibly content with less or strive for more. But within us all, I feel, there is a barometer that says, "I am happy", or not. That is what most people pay attention to, unless they are running around clamoring after a lot of tangible things, which they think will make them happy, only to find out when they have those things, that it is internal not external things that affect how happy most of us are. So my thought, the more content you are with less, the less stress you will have and the happier you will be in the long run. Take care, be happy.

hi,in my view, everyone of us wants happiness, but seldom of us can own it ,that is why?just from my perspective, our attitude towards to life is the important ,our expection to life wiil decide our happiness to life, many unrealistic ideas will stop us moving ahead or staying here, our aim should be more real and nature, not too big or small,as long as we achieve our goal we will be happy .

I consider that the 'content' is the only thing that makes the life happy. Knowing how much is really enough and not comparing us with others will go a long way in making our life more happier. And the most important thing is knowing that happiness is withing you and you don't have to search for it.

Belief in God is my top priority, since you have to have that peace and love, before you get find anything else in life. Next i would say peace, and inner peace. You have to find a balance in life.

I dont know what it takes to be happy but I do have a theory that if a person is generally a happy person I think that it probably wont take much to make them happy, but if a person is generally a unhappy then it wont matter what material things or other factors that person has in there life they will be unhappy no matter what. I'm a generally happy person give or take a few issues, and I have had my share of ups and really big downs believe me, but to spite that I still managed to smile through it all and be pretty happy and fun person, so to answer your question it really just depends on the person and how adaptable they are and what they want expect out of life. TRUE HAPPINESS COMES FROM WITHIN.

Hi apples, I agree that a happy person is a positive person, nothing can get him /her down for long. I think you have the right attitude towards life. One must be positive and let bygones be bygones and move on without holding grudges, only then can one be happy in life - all the best and happy mylotting

Wealth can actually make you more miserable, because you have more worries about the safety of your possesions and other things. One thing that would make you happy in life is when you don't hold a grudge against anyone whosoever and to be honest in evrything you say -or do. Helping your fellow man would also make you happier when you see the results.

Hi, I agree with that - wealth does put a lot of pressure on a person. Taking care and guarding ones wealth makes one wary of other people and their intentions. It is best not to be judgmental about people because we all make mistakes at some time or the other, and as you rightly pointed out there is no point in holding grudges against others - all the best and happy mylotting

Hi kiran8,happy to know that there is some one thinking about wealth, happiness, love and inner peace in this phase of life filled with all fast generation people. You are absolutely right, there is no end for ones search in life,we keep on to prioritise things one after the other but never try to put full stop. The saying 'Desire is the cause of all miseries' is very much true in human life and applies to all.I feel it is the balance of everything which makes one successful in all spheres of life and at the same time one should have given up their greediness and jealousy to lead a content life.Happiness can be found and felt in every step and action of life. One should learn to enjoy natures creativity and lead as simple as possible.Hardwork, honesty, sincere efforts, and patience makes one wealthy over the years and compassion towards all creatures makes their life meaningful.I think when compassion is there inner peace follows by itself as one is free from greed, jealousy, anger and hatred.

Hi shilley, thanks a lot for your response, I absolutely agree with your views. Happiness largely lies with ourselves and how we look at life and our priorities. Inner Peace and happiness go together, but it is also something for which we are looking all our lives. In my opinion knowing all the facts that you have mentioned people still go and make a mess of their lives, including myself LOL...Have a great evening and all the best
