Like to eat pancakes..... ??

Dear MyLotters, Yes, pancakes is my favourite dish for breakfast. I was searching for some pancakes recipes and I came across two simple recipes for pancakes. The first recipe is for basic pancake,I make it yesterday,taste yummy. I ate with blackcurrent jam and honey. Even my son also can finished up 2 big pieces of pancakes by himself. And tonight I cook potato pancake,It is my first time cooking this type of pancake,I am so glad that it turn out delicious. A simple yet delicious meal for my family. I make all 6 pieces of potato pancakes and no more left in the table now. Since my son like to eat potato,this recipe is really good and I will cook for him again next week. When I was small we eat Chinese pancakes for tea-times.Chinese pancakes is big and cut into 5 0r 6 or 8 pieces. In Penang, they have pancakes called Apom Balik stuffed with banana or coated with jam and some staffed with ham, prawns, sausages. You can try it . It tastes delicious.

Hi James, What Chinese pancake that you referred to? Is it the one with peanut,sweet corn inside??? I also like to eat that kind of pancake. In my country, we say as : ban chiang kueh(in hokkien dialect). I never try on Apom Balik....it seems taste yummy to me. Next time when I have chance to Penang,then I should try it out.

Hi James, Oh..I like to eat Ban chiang kueh expecially with extra sweet corn and chocolate chips...so tasty when it served hot for tea time or breakfast. I never try on Apom Balik. What I have at my hometown is called Apom Manis, it was plain pancake served with some gravy(sweet in taste). I am not sure the gravy is made from what. I never try any panakce with fillings like prawns,sausages...It seems yummy to me.Hope I will have a chance to try it out one day.

Yes,Chinese pancakes in Hockien is called ban chiang kueh. Apom Balik is a Malay pancakes, coated with margarine and sprinkled with grinded ground nuts similar to ban chiang kueh, but smaller. You can get this simple Apom Balik without the extra sausages, etc anywhere in West Malaysia.

I prefer McDonald's pancakes anytime but if I could have home-made ones, especially potato pancakes...super yummy! The pastriness of it is really delicious and when spread with a topping like chocolate and stuff...all the more awesome..

Hi Zed, I used to eat Mcdonald's pancake when I was in singapore. That is the best breakfast for me. But the home-made pancake also taste not bad,when i first try to make the pancake,it does not turn in good shape,i need to practice more. I never think off adding some chocolate Syrup to my pancake,you give me an idea...should try it out nextime.

Yummy, right.. Alright, I can think of so many things... erm, pancake ice-cream, pancake bananas, pancake chocolate, pancake scrambled eggs.. I think my favorite would be pancake smoothie...............yum!

My daughter absolutely LOVES pancakes so I make them for her at lease once a week! She likes butter and syrup on hers. When I eat them I just like butter on mine. I would love to try making potato pancakes but never have, they just sounds so yummy!! What recipe did you use for your potato pancakes?

Hi Cryss, I really wish I can post the potatoes pancake recipe here,but too bad MyLot is not allow to post any recipe here. Maybe you can give me your email address,then I will email it to you. Actually, I got the recipe online, and I found it pretty simple.that's why I make it for my family. Tonight I just cook potatoes pancake again as one of the dish for dinner.

Hi shia, if you've just discovered pancakes then don't just use them as sweet things, they make good savouries too. Cook up the pancakes plain, roll inside something savoury like ham or cheese or anything you like really, then roll them up and heat again in the oven. Some kind of sauce such as a cheese sauce on top stops them from drying up.

HI Thea, I like your idea.....I really wish I have chance to try it out. Too bad now I don't have an oven at home,next time sure will try your suggestion. From what you write, I can imagine how tasty will be the pancakes. I like to eat anything with cheese...super yummy !!

hi Shia! I always remembered my mum made us pancake for breakfast in the morning when we are in school.. now, it's my turn to do it for the younger ones.. Now that you mentioned, it make me has the urge to make pancake for tomorrow morning breakfast. It's been a while we had one. As we normally add a bit of sugar in the pancake, therefore by eating on it's own just taste good. you know what.. talk about the toppings that goes with the pancake.. I love to have Nutella Chocolate Hazelnut Jam!! and now I am OK. let's make pancake for tomorrow's breakfast!

Hi Cwong, It has been long time I never eat Nutella Chocolate Hazelnut jam.I used to buy some when I was in Singapore. I ate them with plain bread..super yummy I also think of making basic pancake for tomorrow breakfast.Since my husband and my son also like it,so it will be the best breakfast for weekend. When I was young, my mum never make pancake for me and I don't think she know how to make it.Now it is my time to make pancake for my family. Let's making pancake together and enjoy !!

Hi ISboy, Pancakes are good to be served as breakfast of the day. I will just make plain pancakes,only when I wanted to eat,I will add bit of honey and jam. It taste so nice. I don't add too much honey as it will taste very sweet. I guess you can mix bit pandan essence or banana flavour into the pancake mixture,it should taste nice too.Maybe I should try it next time.

Hi shia! I love pancakes too. In fact I like to prepare them myself. Normally it's the traditional way, mixing flour with baking powder then add egg, sugar and other flavor enhancing stuff. But I find out that today there are many ready to cook pancakes all you have to do is to just add a little water and perhaps an egg then all is done. I like caramel on top, but sometimes I mixed two or three kinds of jams and marmalade. Yummy. enjoy!

Hi Manong, Yes...I did try to make pancake using the pancake mixture.It is easily available in the supermarket,I just need to add egg and water,then pan-fried and it can be served anytime on the table. However, it was always thinking of making my own pancake rather than get ready-packed mixture from the supermarket. I was searching for some simple pancake recipe last week and at last, I found one recipe is pretty simple. I tried it out and it turns out delicious.

I like cakes but I am not sure whether the cake which I buy from the bakery is a pan cake is made in t5he oven or some thing else. I tried many times to make cakes in an oven but failed but there is my neighbour who make cakes in cooker and is made perfect there. So, indeed having oven I still make cakes in cooker.

Hi Coolcat, Actually we can simple buy a cake from bakery shop,but there is sometimes when we wanted to try to make cake ourselves,it is kinda of satisfaction when we can success make the cake. As for me, I don't have an oven at home, so I never bake a cake before. Making pancake is more simple for me.I just need a nonstick pan and get ready all the ingredients,it can be served as my breakfast for my family.

Definitely, DEFINITELY YES! Pancakes are my favorite breakfast food because of the softness, the sweetness, they're THAT good. I even went to IHOP for the first time in middle school (as far as I can remember), and earlier this year, I ate out again at IHOP. Man, that's a long time of a gap. Even when I was little when Saturday Morning cartoons were still alive I used to look forward to eating pancakes with cheesy scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and orange juice. Nowadays, although it's been a while, I used to buy instant pancake mix to make my own pancakes. Too bad I didn't put it in the fridge because I didn't have my own.

Hi DuoMaxwell, The first time I make a pancake is using the instant pancake mixture,it is pretty convenience ,but more costly. So at last, I search some pancake recipes online and I went to buy ingredients needed,using that ingredients portion, I can make alot lot of pancakes. So it still cost more cheaper and at least I can make few rounds of pancakes.

Hi Peaceful, I agreed with you,pancake is simple to make and only take less than half an hour to get it done. It has been one of my favourite meal for breakfast. Both my husband and my son also loves it. I always standby the ingredients at home ,so anytime we are craaving for pancakes,I just make it for them.

Hi shia, I like to eat pancake too. My mom is the one who cook pancake but it is from the instant pancake that you can buy in the grocery store you can only add an egg and water but it was still yummy.Can you give me a recipe of potato pancake? I think it is delicious and it is very nutritious also.So that my mom can cook potato pancake too.
