I injured my ankle about eight weeks ago and I've had it checked by a therapist who told me it was tendonitis. They strapped it for me and gave me some heat treatment but it didn't seem to help much.
A few weeks after the pain started it got worse so I went to my doctor. It was so bad by then I couldn't even climb the stairs to see them, they had to come down and see me.
They've given me a prescription which works out at about sixteen painkillers a day but I stop taking the codeine because there was a warning on the leaflet saying that they were addictive and they didn't stop the pain anyway so there was no point. They agreed it was tendonitis.
Since then the pains pretty bad still although not as bad because I've been using an anti inflammatory but the swelling is getting worse and is now on the inner and outer side of my ankle and achilles tendon is swelling as well.
I've been told that my doctor shouldn't have just sent me away with painkillers they should have sent me for an x.ray.
Has anyone experienced anything like this or have any tips?

Your body is trying to fight of inflammation, but gets hindered by something. It may be your diet. Try to eat more healthy and go for a detox program if you can. Drink lots of water. Some more exercise will also equip your body to better fight against inflammation.
All the best!

Hey Jane sorry to hear about your ankle! You have waited a long time and may have done some serious damage to it! I played hockey for 12 years and have some experience with this! I see your 38 and that's getting up there a little for healing, you should keep off of it as much as possible! Soak it in hot water before going to bed! Your right painkillers only take some pain away they do nothing for the healing process, in fact you use it more if it's not painful. The the pill for inflammatory reaction were good at the time but it's past that point now! Just stay off it as much as possible! Let nature take its' course and good luck! tdemex
