Hello everyone, need some advice from you. I have applied for a secretarial job and i was lucky to be choosen but i am having second thoughts whether to come tomorrow or not. The employer send me a message that i report tomorrow. I haven't acknowledge it as i am having second thoughts. I am longing to have a real job and i badly needed it to help my finances and to have life outside but the owner pays really low as in really low. I know this is better than having no job at all but i have to consider my daily expenses like the fare and the food and the pay couldn't compensate on it, considering that i am gonna take 3 rides to get there. I don't think its fair to be paid under minimum wage but i like to experience the job. I am really confused whether it will be wiser to accept or just reject it? any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

No, I wouldn't accept it either. Explain to the manager that a) the transportation, fuel, and food expenses would cost more than what they are paying you, and b) you cannot accept a job that's paying under minimum wage. Try to find a job that plays at least minimum wage, and if transportation is an issue, close to your home.

If it is not going to benefit you at all, I would not accept, but if you feel that you would benefit at all, maybe you should. Why is it not paying minimum wage, isn't it illegal?

I know exactly what you mean. I would more than likely reject it myself if it was not really going to help me out that much. It is just not worth it. I would try to look for something better than that if you have the time to or take that one and keep looking for better jobs that pay more.
