Damn, I got these one during my grade school. Not only did I develop a habit of biting my nails but also pages of my notebooks. My classmates still reminds me of this silly habit of mine until now. I think the reason for this is that when I fell pressured at school or a subject that I been have difficulty with, I ended up doing things that I really don't like to do. I get over it during my freshman in high school. And I'm glad that my children have no similar habits as I do. My children knew about it and often times may silly gestures to me when were having quality times together. Nice, awkward and silly experience though. but its all part of life now and learned from it.

I quit biting my nails 3 years ago! I use to bite them till they bled.I am quite happy still enjoying the new look after this long.It is self mutilation is what ,I was told. Then recently ,I read that a public toilet has less germs than under your finger nails.Try to keep things like this in mind when chewing them or biting.Even if you think others don't notice they do!
Stop eating yourself and get some food!

Hello friend,
My daughter had this same mannerism, and i always try to stop her for doing it.
She's 15 yrs old now,and still doing it,i knew it's not her intention, she also doesn't know why she is doing such thing.
Well,i guess it's better at her age than thumbsucking (hahaha)
And,also, she doesn't have to cut her nails, becoz,it doesn't grow long..

hi amyson well mine is silly but I still find myself chewing on a lock of mylong hair, why I really do not know. my hubby used to tease me about it,he would say, does that taste good, you want some sugar on it?" well sometimes that teasing led to other more interesting things, and I would forget the hair for an hour or
so. I also know its not a healthy habit either and I do try to
break myself of that bad habit. maybe eventually I will be able to
not do that.

they say that oral fixation can manifest when in that stage when a person cannot satisfy on that stage.other have bathroom manifestation that they always go in the comfort room to relieved themselves.these mannerism sometimes lead to obsessive compulsive that have linked to mental illness if not control.
