What causes people to migrate?

When I was young, many of my friends migrated to other countries giving the reason of studying. There are many reasons for one to migrate. Whether it is for the good or bad, we should never forget our homeland. Have you friends or family who have migrated? Why do you think they did that?

The are many reasons, why 3 sisters are all US citizens now and are doing well in the US, the reasons mainly are for career advancement. Opportunities at home are limited and difficult to get. Other may have different reasons which are equally valid as well. I'm not sure what the bad ones are. enjoy!

I have no relatives migrated to other country, I think they will be willing to do that if they meet the requirments of migration. As you know, to migrate, the first thing is the language problem, then it will cost a lot. So, most of our people choose to stay homeland, even though the compensation and the benifits is really low. I wish I will have a chance to go abroad, so I keep learning very hard. In order to get a better life, some of my relatives move to some big domestic city which is thousands kilometres away from homeland instead of immigration.

The root cause in my opinion for migration is unavailability of jobs and basic rights to people. I am from Pakistan and I myself have applied for Canadian Immigration. Its not the fault of people. Its the fault of local governments of countries from where people are migrating. If the local governments help in giving right jobs to the right people and provide people with their basic rights easily on their door steps then no one will think of migrating anywhere.

In some countries, there is never a second thought about migrating. Poor living conditions, lack of jobs, political instability, etc. Instead of putting the blame on the government, you can still salvage your own situation and make a better life not because of the government but by what you are. You are a winner unless you decide against it.

I agree with you. The government should really be blamed for this because most people wouldn't migrate if they could get good jobs in their own country.

I have a lot of family members who are now living in the states and in Canada. Here in our country, the number one reason for leaving is that people go to greener pastures. A lot of people feel that it's easier to earn and to save money outside of the country compared to just staying here. I really can't blame then, cause sometimes, I too feel that we are losing hope. But I think the best thing about those that choose to leave, they do not forget their home country, and they give want they can back here.

I agree with you indeed. We can migrate but let our migration brings positive end results. For example, sending funds back to our family is one. Not forgetting our homeland and constant visits back home would be another.

yep. that's true.. when I see people who have never forgotten where they came from. It just really makes me happy. I do wish that all people would be this way.. because there are some, that when they leave the country, they never look back, and sometimes, they even say bad things about their own country..

Hi creationhub Hmm talking about migrating, i missed my homeland, i stay in another state and we always visit our native state at Christmas and we will be going this Christmas as well . . . it's my dad's occupation here at the steel plant and so we live far away from our homeland and our many relatives, it is so nice to visit there each year at such a beautiful occasion, when i meet my cousin brothers and sisters i realize i would have had a little different childhood growing up there, i mean i live in a colony the colony the steel plant provided us with and i wonder i would it have been living in a bigger city have a nice day creationhub!

Hello Creationhub! I'm in the same situation right now. I, together with my husband & daughter plan to migrate to Canada. We hired a consultant to help us with the process. It's a bit expensive to hire one but we took the risk because we really do not know where to start. All our papers have been completed & are now ready for filing this month ** fingers crossed**. Our primary reason for migration is to save up & have a better life. Economically speaking, we feel that living & working in our country is becoming more & more difficult due to financial crisis. Since Canadian government is less strict now to accept immigrants & applications are approved within 6-12 mos, we took our chances. I've been hearing also that Canadian government is very supportive of their people in terms of the benefits they provide. That reason alone, is something which we don't have in my homeland. Yes, our government provides basic benefits. But it's nothing compared to the benefits provided by progressive countries. Migrating to a progressive country is our way of surviving the crisis in our homeland. But honestly, I will consider retiring in my home country by the time I get old. It's still best to be home with loved ones around.

I hope it will be worth all your plans to pay high fees for consultant to process your application. Have a great life in your new country and keep us in the loop. Do connect with me through my blog.

Good for you, wengerts. I am sure things will be different when we go anywhere with a positive mindset. I'd love to have more canadian friends, not necessary they be birthed canadians as long as they are canadian citizens.

My aunt has migrated from Holland to the US because her husbands family lived there and they had a better shot at finding a job and buying a home. My other aunt has migrated to Canada, I think for similar reasons. I also have an uncle in Germany, not sure why he moved there. Family related I think. A lot of people migrate because of better chances of employment, because there is a war in their country, to study or to live closed to their relatives. Nowadays there are more and more students who do study abroad but only for a limited time, and that don't migrate to the country. For example, they do an internship for a year and then move back to their own country.

Due to economic situation of there country and to seek better employment. Here in our country many want to migrate because they want to have better life there and to help there family here. They are many reasons why others want to migrate but for me I don't have to leave my country I'm happy to live here.

A lot of different reasons, actually. Specially in our country, there are a lot of them who went abroad. As you said, one of the reasons is acquiring better or shall we say higher education in other countries. Some chose to go abroad to look for greener pasteur because there are no good opportunities in our country. Some of them not are not contented with what they have here. They want better opportunities, so they needed to look for jobs abroad with higher pay, while some of them really needed to go out for the sake of their family. Some say it's because of bad politics in the country. Well, whatever the reasons maybe, it's their decision. I think that it's not that they want to forget their homeland. I still believe that they love the country and they wanted to go back. It's just for the time being, they have to be outside of the country. Happy mylotting!

They always say that the grass is greener on the other side. Well, that's for some but for others it may not be so. Whatever it is, I think many migrate in order to have a better life in their new country.

There are many reasons why people migrate, some it's just because they are offered a new job which is in another country and some people move to have a better life and a fresh start. Some people of course have gone somewhere on holiday and fallen in love with the place and gradually moved over there. If I had the money I would spend my time between Taunton in England where I am from and Los Angeles because I love Basketball and would really like to coach over in the US.

I have tons of relatives and friends who have migrated in the past and they have different reasons for doing so. Some of them, like you said, want to acquire better education somewhere else. Some of them just want to be reunited with their families in another country. However, a lot of them from what I know, want to have better lives and they think they can achieve that by working or living on another country.

Yes, I have relatives who migrated too. Interestingly, some of them really yearn to return to my country. There is always the feeling of homesickness, I guess.

There are lot of reasons why people migrated to other countries. Some are for good pay of salaries and they are looking forward for greener pasture. Along with it is the good employment. Because in there homeland, they were paid less and have a lot of task been done. The compensation is not good. People who find their love of there life in other country. They have to migrate enable to be together. And give up the place you have been for a long time. In my part, I am planning to migrate soon because I was looking for my better future in other place and to be with the man I love. It is the way to be with him is to stay with him. It is better for me to give up the place were I stay than him. It is also because he have a better job already in an airline company. If I will be there, I could find a better job that will pay me a very good compensation and benefits too. Not like here in my country, how hard to do your job or lots of task you do, the compensation is low. And you do many position in a company.

The basic cause for our migration is the need of money only. To earn we have to learn. If we don't have the necessary educational facility in our home land or in our country or place, we have to move to some other place., Then job..As the jobs are not available in our home town , we have to move where the jobs are available..The root cause is money only. I have just migrated to a place within my own country, 400KM away from my place.

I observed like in my country people are really striving hard to migrate abroad especially USA, Canada, UK etc. that is because of livelihood problem. And mostly they dont like the system of the country. Some sacrifice their presence to take care of thier family just to get a good earnings abroad. Leisure is one of the reason why people choose to go abroad but most likely it is the system that push through people to live in foreign country.

i have lots of friends and relatives that migrate to other countries particularly in US. basically their reason is to seek for greener pasteur. Some are lucky to have a good job and a good life but some are also suffering because they can sometimes be a victim of abuse. True enough, that we should never forget our homeland, actually we can never forget our homeland because it is where we are raised up and where we develop the person we are now. But the thing is, since I belong to a third world country where unemployment is increasing, sometimes we are left with no choice but to go to other countries hoping to find a decent job there. we are persistent to try our luck there no matter how much we will miss the country we dearly loved.

hi creationub, there are lots of reasons, better envirionment, safer places, different paces of life, different education styles, simply a case of the grass being greener. We can't choose where we were born but we can choose where we want to live.

hi creationhub, i have a friend that migrated to canada this year. she got married in this year. the reason she migrated is that her parents in law become old and want to spend their rest life in canada. for her, she studied there more than 4 years and she is familiar with everything there. and she often come back to visit us.

People migrate because they find abroad the best opportunities for them. I have lots of friends go abroad searching for greener pasture but go back home to visit their family and then back for work or study abroad.

i think people want to migrate because they want to find better opportunity and better income, like people here in the philippines imagine a lisenced doctor will migrate to canada to be a nurse or a teacher to be a domestic helper. because they want to give their family a better futer.

i have friends and relatives migrated in other country. some they do it for a cause and some by chance they wanted to have a better life maybe because they wanted to be different. and they get influence by some people that life in other country is a better place to live...rather than their homeland.and some because of the family who migrated first then they had to follow.
