After a few hours my computer turns off automatically. When I try to turn it on, it gets turned off before windows loading screeen appears. If I try to turn it on after 15 - 20 minutes then it starts fine. May be this is beacuse my computer gets heated up.
Please post you comments if anyone knows why it is happening and how can it be solved.

If it is a overheating problem try to remove the dust in the fans, and in the heatsink of the cpu. You can do it by opening the case and putting gently a vacuum cleaner near them. It often solves overheating problems.
You should check on the bios the temperatures and see if they are too high before trying this.

Welcome to mylot, sanchet. I had the same problem with my IBM laptop a few weeks ago. I took it to my computer friend and he told me that its hardware is damaged and that it will cost a lot of money to get it fixed. Right now, I still keep it and I will get it fixed by a professional computer repairer when I have time in a few more days.
I wish you lucky to have the problem of your computer fixed soon. Happy posting.

If you are talking about Desktop then the problem may be that the fan of CPU is not working that is why chip get heated and computer automatically get turned off. Even if the fan is fine the problem may be that there is an option to turn off the computer when the CPU touches a certain temperature. Go to set up and increase that temperature. You will get this option in power management option in setup.

The problem has been solved. My pc did not turn off in last 24 hours.
As you adviced I checked processor temperature .... I was shocked!! 96°C/204°F WTF!!
So, I posted one more topic related to heating up of processor. People adviced me to clean the fan and I did so .... LOL that was handful of dust coming out of my PC.
Since then, it is working fine.
Thanks!!

Can I ask if you are using a laptop or a desktop? I had a problem with my laptop a few months ago where it would switch off automatically- the problem was that one of the cooler fans was not working properly and the laptop was overheating and so was switching off to protect itself. Maybe this is what is wrong with yours?

It's happened to me 3 times in all. The first time it was the CPU which had packed up, the 2nd time the fan had broken and the third time the video card had over-heated.

I can think of a couple of things that may be going on. One, it may be getting too hot due to dust and debris inside the modem. Try cleaning that out and maybe using a small fan to help cool the system. Another option that comes to mind is that you may have a virus on your computer. Have you run a complete virus scan lately? Why not try that too. If those thigns don't work, you might want to try to do a complete factory restore on your computer. It sucks having to do that because you ahve to go through and redo everything, but sometimes it helps.

It looks like a hardware failure to me. You may be right that it may have been too heated already that the system fails to sustain itself from running. YOu may also try to check on your UPS or the cables connected to each and every component (if it's a desktop) or the adaptor (if it's a laptop. Better have it checked while it's still early. If it's truly a hardware failure, having everything checked earlier may reduce complications and may prevent your machine from acquiring further errors. Good luck!

Something like this happend with my notebook. The problem was my motherboard. It's better to change the motherboard. But if you have a desktop pc, change the m.b.
