Yep...I am a cancer survivor of 6 years. Squamous cell carcenoma of the tongue. Massive dosages of chemo, lifetime dosage of radiation, and radical surgery, along with a positive attitude (I had some inside info that I was going to survive!).
Probably the worst year of my life. I lost 85 lbs in 7 weeks while on radiation!
The physical quality of my life has been diminished somewhat over the last 6 years. It takes me longer to eat than most folks (smaller passage due to permanent swelling). I have been in a low level of pain continuously and my energy level is diminished substantially.
Oh....btw...it's back!. Just recently diagnosed. Cannot be fought by Man's ways this time...they have done all they can do. So I am using natural alternatives, a lot of prayer and faith.
I'm thinking of starting a blog keeping track of my progress (too morbid?)

I'm so sorry to hear this.
You sound a lot like my best friend..I was her caregiver..she has also, survived 5 + years..she had the same type in right tonsil..14 hour operation and a lot of radiation(which caused a lot more damage).
She no longer has the "peg" and eats some, seems more every month or so if it is small amounts. Also, she drinks Boost Plus daily.
If you do not mind my asking, where did it come back?
God Bless You

First...sympathy is not required though I appreciate your heart. My Lord has given me 6 extra years of time here to further His Kingdom and it seems that all things are pointing to the fact that He is not done with me yet. This challenge is just that ...a challenge not a defeat. If the Lord decides I have been here long enough, I will leave a skid mark 2 miles long because I do not plan to slow down.
I will not allow any negatives to invade my space nor will I give up on Him.
It came back on the left side of the tongue.

I have not had cancer and keep my fingers tightly crossed that it never happens to me. I lost an uncle a few months ago to cancer and it was terrible. I wish they could find a cure for it.
