Somewhere, it has been said that we should love our enemies, do you find that hard?
Have you ever prayed for your enemy, does it help us, if we do? What are your perceptions?

Matthew 5:43-48 (New International Version)
43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Jesus was teaching us that we should grow to another level than what humans are in the habit of doing. We should hope that those that do us harm or insult us might have a change of heart and see the error of their ways. Look what happened to the apostle Paul!
This was a radical teaching then and so it is now. But as individuals we can be different. We can try to be like Jesus and his Father. Unlike Jesus and God we cannot read human hearts. So we work and pray that even our enemies might make positive changes in their lives and come to see God's ways!

artistry, thank you for your comment on the name I've chosen. That name is a reflection of all my aspirations. I'm hopeful in all that is positive and good for myself and all of humankind. I have the highest hopes for mankind. And I'm fully convinced that they will come true. I see a glorious future ahead and everything that is happening, positive or negative, is a step in the right direction.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (New International Version)
4Love... always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails.
"But the word is there to show us in which direction we should be trying to go, to seek perfection in Him. I for one do not believe there is satisfaction in trying or striking back, you only become more ungodly when you pursue vengeance towards others." I couldn't agree more!
Take care my friend!

...Hi there 1hopefulman , Your name just makes me smile. What you have written is so full of messages, and lessons for the human family. He, the Lord, as you have mentioned wants us to reach beyond our human, earthly state and try to be more, as He was. That's why the message is also given "to turn the other cheek", that is not an easy thing to do, one would have to ask for God's grace in such an instance, whether it be in fact or an intangible slap. But the word is there to show us in which direction we should be trying to go, to seek perfection in Him. I for one do not believe there is satisfaction in trying or striking back, you only become more ungodly when you pursue vengeance towards others. Thanks for your very revealing and informative response. Take care.

I think it's not a problem about health, but it's all about problem of kindness. If we can easily pray for our enemies and we can forgive them, such things are good things and actually if we have positive mindset we can easily find if such things have many benefit for us. No need to hate other people anymore, and we can easily releasing our emotional energy. Keeping hate inside our heart or keeping emotional energy too much is bad for our health and it could causing many diseases. So, if you have enemies now and you don't know how to release your hate and emotional, just pray for them and forgive them. Good luck and have a nice day. Happy mylotting.

...Hi dianmelydia. Thanks for your response. You make a good point, if you release
the negative emotional energies, it is so much better for our physical health. Hating takes a lot out of you, and positive things, such as praying for people, who are not so good in their actions, actually helps us in the end. Take care.

It's the Bible that says love thy enemies as you love yourself. Yes, it is hard to do. I think you get back whatever you put out there. Put out bad karma, you get bad back. Put out good karma, you get good back. Yes, I have prayed for my enemies & felt good about it!!!

....Hi there LadyMarissa, Thank you for your comment. It is to give us strength to be better people, that I think we are given such a hard thing to do. But if we try, I do believe, we will grow and become more like God would want us to be. The guile would leave us and the goodness would flow in, if we allow ourselves to reach for a better understanding of why it is healthier to pray for our enemies. It is to have a bigger heart as I see it. Hopefully I will be able to reach such a place in life. Take care always.

I think it's difficult to pray for my enemy, though I really don't have such kind of enemy. I once heard of such statement, but just shrugged shoulder. If there was an enemy one day, I wouldn't pray for him either. It's perfectly straightforward that I'm not a saint, or I just a normal people. The best thing I can do is to have a fair competition without a curse.

...Hi there Gongfuboy, Thank you for your reply. If I am understanding you, you are in a very good position in life, not having any enemy that you are aware of. You also, I take it, are happy to be able to survive with fair competition, and no curse. Does that mean that you would not have a problem with receiving a blessing, if you chose to pray for your enemy, if you had one? Just posing the question.
Take care.

it is not easy loving those that persecute you or stab you in the back. it is even worse if the one that hates you is a member of your family. as the bible says, "a man worst enemy are members of his household. all said, to remain healthy forgive thos that hate you, return love for hatred. you will live long. christ says in so doing, you will be pouring coals of fire on those that hate you.

...Hi MATETE89, Welcome to the ranch, enjoy. Thank you for your comments. Well chosen words. If we are able to rise above our feeling for revenge, when someone does something wrong to us, then we are moving in the right direction. I makes us bigger people, and gives us larger hearts to love more than we despise. Take care and thanks again.
