Have you ever been taken aback by a certain beauty and it can be a person or a thing and in which, you have ever since think about that thing or person every now and then.
Say it's not a love feeling, but something that you dream or think of or saw and you are smitten by it or (that person). If it has happened, when and where before? Care to share? Thanks, lotters..

... thanks so much, you made my day!
I know what you mean; I have been smitten with some people over the years, and it's not about looks, it's something deep within that only my thoughts and then eyes could see. Just seeing and believing; magical.
You have summed up a perfectly entirely magical feeling that I have felt before too. Wonderful, Neelia.. thanks..

Hi zed! I have a story! It was when I went to Japan. Everyone I had seen had been native to Japan except my group and we were going to tour some temples. We had to board a speed train and while I was on there next to a window I saw a traveler. He looked English and was very handsome with his bag across his shoulder waiting alone. I guess I was smitten a bit..curious. We stared at each other as my train pulled away. Strange really. Not like love..just interest maybe.

Wow.. a passing stranger! Thanks for sharing this lovely experience you have had, Jenin. I know the feeling exactly as well. A stranger in passing; totally cool and awesome, it's like a moment of electric jolt but in a good way.. ... well, if you are lucky sometimes, the person may pass in front of you again.. hmmmmm...

I have a feeling that I will feel that way about my ex. Every once in awhile I hear or see something that reminds me of him fondly. It wasn't love I Now know but he does cross my mind.

Yes it has happened to me several times. One such time is when I went to New York for the first time. In all that rush and craze, I somehow find myself lost and at peace. It's strange and hard for me to explain, but the vibe that NY carries is so different.
The other place is a waterfall near a cave that I have been to. It's in my country, in a very remote place. It's surreal, almost like it's put of a dream.

I know what you mean.. New York is like an awesome place. I'd like to go someday. So you are planning for a return trip someday then..
For me, besides lightning pictures which I've told drannhh, I also love waterfall pictures (nature too) and laughing kids pictures. Captured; you know those online greeting card types whereby you can see kids laughing, dressed up as turtles, fishes and whatnot...
I also love a classic vintage painting. Anytime.. Monet, Picasso, Monalisa... and others which I might not know. Going to art gallery and stare for a long time..

Hi cbeee3 :)
I share a common experience with you, except it's in a different place. I have gone to lots of beaches, but there was a certain beach that felt so out of this world for me. It was really simple, but there was a certain calm that I've never felt before in other beaches. I do long for that experience again :)

I have been completely obsessed with the same person for THREE years. Sigh. So, you know, it isn't easy. He does not feel the same way. What can I say? I know I should stop thinking about him but you know..."the heart wants what the heart wants" as the Spanish say....

Yup, the heart is very strange. We tend to like or love things which might not be for us as well. Or perhaps that person isn't interested. Life works that way, too bad..but having the ability to appreciate the beauty of a place or the joys of being with someone even if you don't end up with that person is more than enough. Good answer there..

I happen to be a person who is easily smitten and have this tendencies to go obsessed when smitten. Mostly with new gadgets or uniquely beautiful girls. It happens all the time to me.

Hey der, Howz you? Well, as you said it's not a love feeling, Bcoz if it was, I have so many people that I am smitten about in my life (Family). But there is this one instance, where I saw an extremely beautiful dress, glittering in pink, a perfect fit, but it was a little extra expensive. I asked the shop owner to keep that dress for me and i promised him that I would come back the next day to purchase it, I even paid him half the amount to assure him. But I couldn't get outta work the next and a day after i went to get that beautiful pink dress.....But!!! He apologizes and tells me that he already sold it to some1 else, as I did not turn up the previous day! I was never smitten like that, but for that dress, which I could never find anything just like it in any other shop or any other place, or anywhere else...I still imagine to see it someday, somewhere and just buy it......

Hey there gorgeous; I'm doing great and I hope you are too. Wow.. beautiful dress; I know how ladies can get so smitten about it. And I'm sure it was a real extremely gorgeous one; just by you mentioning it.
But then; you have sort of made the half payment, he should have only given it to you. Too bad you couldn't get that pink dress. Hope you'll able to get a beautiful and identical one like that someday..

Yes! Place in nature are like that with me. Rocks and trees! Rivers, even the ocean. They all call out to me and I want to answer their call. Even though I love high-tech things like computers, and can function in the "city" for a while, every now and then I have to get back into the wild. I also get sort of a deja vu feeling sometimes when I see a certain locality for the first time and then I want to go back and see it again and try to remember why it seems familiar.

Nature lover, aren't you, drannhh. That's just so awesome. I love the ocean blue as well and there are lots of photography sites to back up this.
You know something about nature that fascinates me? Lightning pictures; I wonder how ever did the photographers capture those. Must be in super dangerous conditions for them.
I agree with the deja vu feeling too; I feel like that as well. And it can be such a nice feeling and lasting for hours..

Yep I sure have. The latest one was by the blue moon on New Year's Eve.^_^ Im always smitten by kittens or any other kind of furry animals. I am fascinated by all kinds of animals but Im "smitten" by furry animals. Hence, my avatar and my furry cousins.
As for a person's beauty, I still think of the girl that I saw on the 26th. She was just a simple beauty but very striking. She also didnt have any makeup on. That's the kind of beauty that Im smitten with. With guys, it has been a while since I was "smitten" in person. Just dont come across guys that make me look twice.

She must be a real natural beauty..
I know what you mean. Some people could doll up to the nines, but those whom are natural looking tend to look the nicest. But there can be those with make-up, but without it, they don't look nice too, LOL.. For guys, I think you have to talk to them for them to make an impression with you. Thanks for this response, bj..

Seeing my baby for the first time did it for me; she was perfect, every feature was just perfect and to think that she came out of nowhere; well not literally! (LOL) The miracle of birth will always amaze me. We take it for granted because it happens everywhere every day but when I stop and think about it overwhelms me. OMG! We made a person and she is absolutely beautiful! We made a human being from what seems like nothing, it’s amazing...

Such a wonderful feeling it must have been for you; I can only imagine, Paula...
I will always respect women because of the birth process; definitely not easy and I feel so sad thinking for those whom didn't get a chance to see their babies after giving birth. I'm sure you had a beautiful baby back then and will always be gorgeous as she ages.

Hi Alice! Birth is such a miracle and it is taken for granted because it happens so often in the world but it never ceases to amaze me. To think that for a time I thought I would never get to experience it. I am so thankful that I did!

AHhh..I remember those days too. High school crushes for me are like the norm and I would always have lots to catch up on studies because I kept on trying to flirt, LOL...those were the days. But yeah, when it was the real deal, I was kinda shy and I ended up not making the first move.

I am constantly caught in this state and it annoys the hell out of me. Okay, I have always been a sucker for good pictures, but recently, I have developed an obsession with DSLR cameras. I often dream of it, of me taking pictures using my own camera. It is frustrating, knowing it would take time for me to have one. As for a person, I shall still dream of that faceless guy that keeps on haunting my dreams. I am smitten by how real he feels (he is simply present in my dream, doing nothing, but he is there). Hahaha :)

I hope your faceless guy will come soon in reality and he will be just as what you've tried to imagine..
Ah...DSLR cameras; I know that they are good; because I've seen some Facebook users gushing how perfect they can be; especially when taking pictures on events that are important to them. Good luck with the guy someday..

As for my dream guy coming soon, that's up to the Big Guy up there. Hahaha. A real guy would make a difference from the intangible one in my dreams, don't you think? hahaha..
Yep, DSLR is love! Hahaha. I've seen lots of pictures taken by these cameras, and many of them were of thunderstorms. Hmmm. I might send you a link of a photo album of a friend of mine. He had a lot of pictures taken with children as his subjects :)

Buildings..that's it! I love the architectural structure of buildings as well and you know those old photographs of the 60s and 70s whereby the buildings all looked black and white sort of thing? That's just awesome..
I certainly see where you are coming from with this..thanks for your time..

Yep. That has happened to me before. Both to people and things. I wont really elaborate on the people, coz its really natural, but regarding things, im usually 'smitten' with goodlooking cellphones more than anything else, usually those units that are made by Sony Ericsson, hehe. I tend to buy it as soon as i have the money for it.

Haha, I know what you mean..good looking cellphones are aplenty out there.. and especially if they have lots of awesome functions, all the more better. Different models, different brands.. that's just awesome. So sorry for my late reply yeah...and thanks for coming.

I have been "smitten" with someone before. I do have moments where I think about intimate moments that me and my hubby shared and tend to get nostalgic. I think this happens to me when I am thinking upon a special memory. I will think back on times of peace and happiness and remember each moment as if it were happening again. These memories are what keeps me going. These special times are what I live for. If you have real serious memories or feelings on something, you will certainly feel what you're describing. That's what makes them so special. dl

My children have smitten me! They are adults now but a couple of times a day I remember when they were growing up, the expressions on their faces, their dear smiles, how absolutely beautiful they were and I'm awe struck. They are miracles of creation and while I love them more than anything, I'm also smitten and hypnotized with their beauty of body and spirit. I hope that doean't sound weird.
There was a thing that had me smitten, too. I still think about a moonstone I had years and years ago. I saw it mounted in a ring at a flea market and bought it though I couldn't afford it. It was a luminous white, like the moon, with a white cat's eye in it and it was the most beautiful stone I've ever seen, more lovely than a diamond. I gave it to a woman who let me stay with her when I had no place to stay and no money. I still think about the beauty of that stone.

WOW! Moonstone and luminous white as the moon? That's indeed so, so rare... no wonder that lady took it when you gave it to her. That's really a nice color, I must say. I've never seen such a stone. Mesmerizing, definitely!
I have seen another responder saying children smitten her too. How nice a feeling that must have been; to be a parent to your children and watch them grow. Awesome... that is something that money can't buy. Thanks for your time, I totally appreciate it..

hi zed hatley here once more. good to be back. Yes I have been smitten by a song, and I did not even know it was an old Beatles song. I don't even really know the title but I call it , I cant help falling in love with you. The tune, the words,it is so easy to sing, and it just sort of hynotized me, I always liked a lot of the Beatles songs, but this one just seemed special to me.
Also today we had our husband and wife team here who come each Monday to play popular songs we residents can sing along with. and they played a silly older love song, Catch a F alling star, and I got all teary., Not so much for the quality of the song but the fact that when it came out was just when my husband was courting me.and it brought back so many memories. he has been gone a long time now. but that sort of jolted me. so odd.

Hiya Hatley it's nice to see you once more. If only I could help you with the title of the song. A song which mesmerized me during those days were from The Carpenters surely. Those era were really awesome, isn't it. I'm the same with you too; but I don't get all teary, only feeling a bit lost and lonely at times when a certain kind of song comes on air. Thanks for your time, Hatley...

Yes that always happens to me with places i have been only for the first time. I would always get reluctant to leave the place especially also if there are people in there worth remembering as well. I tend to always think of that place and the experience I had all the time even if it had been over a month or a year already. Sometimes, I have visited another beautiful place but I still think of that previous one..hehe..it must have been love at first sight..lol
