Well, its depends if you really need it. If you live with people who don't really use them because they don't go very far, I guess you don't need it too.
It depends if the situation asks for it to be a necessity.
In my case, if I don't really need a cellphone, I guess I can live without one. I have lived like that before when cellphones weren't that popular during my earlier school days.
Now-a-days, I think its more of a necessity for emergencies.

Oh!yes, cellphone has become a necessity.I keep my phone switched on 24 hours and I am ready to receive calls even during sleep.Sometimes when I forget to take my cellphone along with me I really feel uncomfortable and I feel that something very important is missing.I use my phone for doing many other activities so to imagine a life without cell phone would just be a great loss for me and life would be miserable. Many of my activities will suffer which I do using my cellphone.

Yes. It is a necessity. I get to contact a friend or family whenever i am in an emergency situation. I used it as my watch, my alarm clock, my reminder, my calendar and many more. I dont use it for games though.

i never thought that cellphones are a necessity until both of my parents acquired one. they really do watch their spendings and contacting a loved one in another country had never been cheaper. if you come to think of it cellphones can do internet, calculation and even broadcast a local radio station or tv channel. time would come wherein the big telly and the laptops would almost be phased out.

cellular phones are necessary nowadays, especially if there are some very important thing that you would want to tell to a person whose far from you, then it would be very easy to call him if he has a cellular phone too, if cellular phone doesn't exist today, then means of communications would be difficult like ever before.people would go to telephone booth, write letters or pay phones that has an expensive fee.

I can't imagine not having my cell phone, as it is the only phone I hae and it is a good form of communication to keep in touch with my kids. My daughter will text me usually everyday, unless she gets busy, then it is only a couple of days a week. So, I just can't go without my cell phone. My son has told me never o forget it and always have it with me, so if something happens, I can call him for help. I certainly wouldn't want to have to change a flat tire on my own, not at my age, I wouldn't. I am a grandmother, and divorced so I have to have one to keep safe. He gets really upset with me if I forget my phone, as he doesn' want anyting to happen to me, and I don't want anything to happen either. So, for me the cell phone is very much a necessity. Take care and happy mylotting.

I used to feel exactly lik eyou - that cell phones are an absolute necessity....until a few months ago when I lost mine.
Do you know - it was actually quite a relief! After the initial panic, and letting all my people know how to contact me in case of emergency, I experienced a sense of freedom. As if by not being 'reachable' I was in my own world, a sort of bubble...it was nice, for a little while.
SO, yes, maybe in small doses, the absence of cell phones may be a welcome event!

it's good that we can get in touch with other people with whole lot of ease. but it takes away the grandeur in small things. before, the effort we put into calling someone makes the call much more special. now it's more of like a passing nod.

i think stuff such as mobile phones are overrated. it was supposed to aide us but instead it created a whole new need.
