Yesterday, I read a piece of news about two girls, who have built a website in order to to collect contributions for the poor. Then, a good idea occours to me--perhaps I can do something useful to help the poor.
There are lots of rich people all over the world. However, it seems that the la and the government can just help the rich become richer and the poor become poorer.
I think I can do something for the poor. If all of us can give a hand to the poor and we can make a difference.

i agree with you. rich people are getting rich, poor people are getting poorer. sometimes we can think that life is not fair enough. but i dont think that way, instead ill move myself to improve my status in life.
to those people who are really willing to help, i admired them and i salute with them. im just hoping that their doing those stuff because they wanted to help not for anything else. im just praying for that.

I think it is very important to do the best you can in your own little corner of the world. That would include helping the poor, if you are able to. We live in an apartment complex with several families from other countries. My daughter shares clothing and toys with the neighboring families and I think this is a good rule of thumb for all of us. Give what you can. Don't try to over due and cause yourself or your family strife but do it in small bits here and there and where you can.

I think that is a great idea. If all of us had that mindset it would change the world. There are so many things that we can do especially now that Christmas is coming up. We have special Christmas trees in a lot of stores here where you can pick a label with a child’s name and age; then you would buy a gift suitable for that child, wrap it and place it under the tree. A couple of weeks before the big day the presents are collected and delivered to the needy children listed on the labels. It is a wonderful thing to do and it doesn’t have to cost the earth, just a small toy and a child’s face will light up on Christmas day!
We don't have to limit kindness just for the Festive Season, we can find things we can do all year through!

i live in a nice home with plenty to eat my husband has a good job ,regular work,he drives a lorry for the supermarket. We are not rich but very comfortable. We see the tv reports around the world seeing people in diar straights.Famine, living in terrible poverty so we put our hands in pockets and send money. We do what we can and our hearts go out to them.We thank the lord for what we have.Apart from that we are powerless to do anything else. You are right the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. It is an unfair world and the powers that be should do something about it,but if there is no oil no one seems really bothered. The rich nations get together in luxury hotels, eating the best food and discuss these poor people promise the earth, then go back to their well paid jobs living the luxury lifestyle and thats it.No one thinks it is right. If you are a doctor or nurse you can volunteer to relieve the suffering by using your skills in the areas that need it.We just hope that our donations of cash get to the people that need it.We donate our sons shoes when he grows out of them, give to disaster funds, and hope things get better for these people, but it is really governments that should be doing more to help as they are the ones with power,so you could lobby your MP or have peacful demonstrations to make the governments take notice.send what we can but apart from that there is nothing we can do,helpless is the word.

It's a great idea, I cant ontribute to any charity because my salary was enough for myself and my family. But in myself, I help the poor in my own way. I gave them food whenever I saw someone whos begging for money or food. i dont give money because food is most thing that they want.

you can make a site which may have some modes offers like ebooks. if some one buys any of them, the money goes to the account of an orphanage. the e books, that you will sell through the site can be get donated from publishers/ writers.
most importantly, you are to put attention on some important aspects. the site should not be needing much and dauly management. only uploading the books can a wkly job. if you want to offer any service through this, dont go for any materialistic service, better prefer some e service.
as first ground work you prepare a work plan for obtaining these ebooks from publishers/ writers. Or you may ask for new writers also for new e books.
In the meantime, design the site. concurrently you can formulate the strategy to circulate about the site. Mylot can be a good platform for this. Specially your friends, they all can make some contribution for this.
next is to choose the poor list or some organization whom you want to help out. preferrably you pick up an orphanage.
Any help you need, knock me. i will work for this.
or we can start working together. like to be a team for this? lets work for poor.

You are right but just giving them money isn't much of a help in most cases. People are poor because they have no education, no way to make enough money to support their families. Education is the key but how can they support their families while they get an education?! That's what's so hard.
I've always wanted to start a self-supporting foundation that would take three or four families at once and educate one parent--and often, one parent is all there is in my country, our out of wedlock birth rate is out of control! Anyway, the family would be housed, fed and clothed by my foundation while the parent went to school full time. After graduation, we'd find them a job and a home. All that time we'd also be teaching them how to handle money responsibly.
That's my dream. I think it would make a big difference--we'd be breaking the cycle of poverty by showing the children a better life as well as helping the parent earn a living.

For helping the poor, I am going to give them the education or the skill so that they can use those skill to find the job. Thus they can live a happy lives by them self. Another thing is that if I could ask for money from many famous millionaires, I would give them to the poor to get education or to run their own business so that in the future they will not be poor anymore.

Sometimes I feel sad, the only thing I can offer for the needy is a prayer. Aside from the little amount and sometimes old clothes. I hope I can do something as well. We will just see what we can do by joining hands and make a differrence.

I think each of us, whatever our circumstances, can always do something to help those less fortunate. It is compassionate and just plain feels right.
I donate a few dollars to reliable charities for the poor when I have it. One can also donate clothing, toys, books, food, blog for causes when the opportunity arises, help the elderly...so many things!
And each and every day, along with whatever else we do, we can pray.

There are so many ways for us to help the needy and some are the following;
1. check on your closet for used nice clothes that's been there for quite sometime and can be donated to an organization directly involved in reaching out to these people.
2. solicit from friends (online and personal means) who are willing to share their blessings and again send it to concerned agencies
3. sacrifice one snacks a day and donate whatever savings you will have.
4. you can do volunteer work to those agencies in sorting, packing and distributing relief goods and clothings.
there are still more and it's up to us to decide in the best and sincere way we can!

Indeed we can..Do you think you can convince 186,000 Mylotters to donate some of their earnings from here? What about similar on other sites we belong to? And what charity(s) would you suggest to handle/distribute the donation?
And you know that if you truly get something going then others will follow suit, lemmings that we are..and those rich folks you speak of may well join in not to look so bad..
Can you get me the website these girls have and either post or send it to me?
Thanx much..ENJOY!

like the fact that there people out there who want to help others especially those in need and think that it would be best if all the money was equally spreaded out so that everyone can enjoy life a little bit more i also think the internet is a good way to create charities to help those in need.

Helping the poor out of poverty depends mostly on the social institutions. However, donations, esp. those from influential shots do make big contributions. Personally, I believe the best way is improve educational system. Only through adequate education can people acquire more employment opportunities. In china, 9 year education is compulsary. Parents must see far sighted so as not to spoil the future of their children.

If you celebrate Christmas one way in England that some of us help the poorer is to get a box and fill it up. Choose to do it for a boy child, girl child, teenager, or for the elderly. You would be surprised how much this helps.
On another point though a lot of governments throughout the world are corrupt and sort that out and a lot more would get a share of the money.
I dare not say in England the government is corrupt lol but you only have to look in the paper at the moment over here and see what Members of Parliament have falsely been paid and have to pay back.
