What would be the important life lesson you would to share to your kid?

I am not a parent, but having grown up from a closely-knit family, I know parents would want to protect or shield their children from the evils of the world or prevent the from committing mistakes. While they say experience is the best teacher, it should not deter parents from sharing to their children life lessons to guide them through life.
For me, I would want to share the value of friendship and family. You will always meet people, some would touch our lives and forever change us, while some would remain as mere acquaintances. But family and real friends would always be there to share your every triumph and failure and make life more meaningful for us.

If I had it to do over again, I'd teach them to live in the moment rather than for the moment. We out of so much in our lives because the mind is either replaying the past, or planning for the future even if it's just 5 minute from now, that we miss the good things in the present moment.

Wow! That is very insightful of you. But I have to agree with you. Most of us get so caught up anticipating whats to come or regretting something in the past that we fail to enjoy what is here are now.

I wish it was insight that taught me that, and that I'd learned it a long time ago. But, other people have great ideas and this is one of those things it's never too late to learn.
