Have you ever slept too much and felt horrible for the rest of the day?

I have been sleeping alot. I am noticing that when I sleep way too long I feel horible for the rest of the day. I know that I got too much sleep when this happens. I hate this feeling when I get too much sleep. It really drags the rest of my day down. I can definetly vouch for that. I wish I did not like to sleep to much it just waists my whole day away and I feel horible if I get too much sleep.

Ah it happens to me every winter...Infact just before winter begins the weather is so perfect that I do not feel like getting up from bed. Also I find it difficult to sleep in the night because I over slept in the day...The next will be the most gloomy day as I feel all drained out and I feel like doing nothing. All drowsy too.

That's me in the am. I can get the kids off to school and have the agenda to go back to bed, especially if I don't have class that day. I try to do it but then I wake up around noon and feel so dragged down, almost like a hangover but no drinking was involved. ( I think that's why I stopped drinking on the weekends). I never feel better until the next day. It's rough!

Hi, i have experience this too that whenever I slept more than what I am used to I would feel tired and more sleepy when i get up. At times i feel like staying in bed because I feel lazy to move. LOL. I think too much of something is not good in our case it was sleep. I even noticed that when i get up later than my usual get-up time i am not myself and i feel like bumming around for the rest of the day. It is always better to stay and get up early to start the day... :)

Yeah. That happens... Recently I slept for 11 hours and woke up like I have been up all night. I was so tired, I had no motivation to do anything! I tuned in to the radio as it was a music chart show. After listening to some cool music, I became better a little. For me sleeping longer (than 4-5 hours) makes my stress levels to increase and is detrimental to my health and productivity and my studies. It makes me less effective and efficient. Have you realised that when you slept much earlier and longer the previous night, you seem to be tired before your bedtime the next night?

Yes, I have overslept and felt really horrible later. We have had a long weekend with regional festivities and Diwali holidays and the office has reopened today after three days…so you can imagined how much rest I’ve had and how long I’ve slept. It was only yesterday night that I could not go to sleep…obviously I had overslept these days and my quota of sleep requirement was way over fulfilled LOL. In the day time too, if I get up really late, my head feels so heavy and I don’t really want to do anything later…I just want to l lay back again!

Yes. I have not had that happen to me in a very long time though. I barely get enough rest now. I have slept for a longer period of time though and got up and my back hurt too.

Yup--I feel the same way. I used to get by with six hours of sleep, but seem to sleep a bit longer now. Then I have days where I really oversleep and not only do I seem to feel more tired, but guilty as well...I think to myself I could have used that extra time to do something constructive instead of sleep.

Hi tuckersheri, Over here in Greec there is the national habit, especially in the hot months, of sleeping for a couple of hours after lunch, and waking again before eveything re opens at six. Whenever I've done it though it definitely makes me feel lethargic afterwards as if I can't wake up properly, a horrid feeling. I don't feel that way if I get the odd lie in in the morning but only during the day.

I feel terrible when I sleep too much. My body and head ache and I feel really annoyed that I wasted a lot of time because I just slept when I could have done a lot of things. I'm the kind of person who wants to do as much as possible in a day, and this includes not only work but also time for having fun.

No I have not felt bad after sleep a long time because when I do sleep long it is just to catch up on the sleep I did not get. I usually get about 6 or 7 hours sleep and feel fine.

Yup. I feel tired and having no energy at all if I over sleep. I don't know why it's happening when one should feel so energetic after getting so much sleep. Guess too much is not good at all. :) shadow41

You feel that too? I did last week. I woke up so late that I felt dizzy and tired. My body hurts and there's pain in my back. I talked to a family member and she laughed at me, saying that it's impossible. You surprise me by posting the same problem. LoL!

If I sleep too much I definitely feel very bad. It is probably worse than not getting enough sleep. I guess the body knows when it is getting the right balance and when it is not.

I actually dont like it...sometimes i put clock to ring , but if i dont wake up on clock i wake up too late and feel bad about it....i guess im too lazy sometimes, its so good to stay in bed:) i have tryed also to wake up and drink directly like hot tea or coffee and actually i feel good after that and day goes good also ..but the big problem is to get out of bed at first place..

Hi Tuckersheri, If I sleep past 7 am I will wake with a headache not sure why but this has always happen to me. Once I"m up and about it usually goes away. I have taken sleep aids before and those will always make me feel awful the next morning.
