My oldest son is 14 years old and he is in Year 9. He has a whole day of PE that is physical education. He came home totally exhausted. My oldest nephew is 12 years old and he is in Year 7. He had a whole day of spelling and he really hated every minute of it. What was your favorite subject when you were at school? What was your worst subject when you were at school? Was it right to concentrate on one subject for the whole day?

hi maximax8 When I was in school my favorite subjects were reading and English. I loved to write, about anything and everything. I hated and still do, Math at every level,it was my worst subject. I don't think they should concentrate on one subject all day,no. that would be too much.

Hi Hatley. Yes, it would be boring to study just one subject for an entire day. If it was Maths you and I wouldn't like it. Writing and reading are really enjoyable and it is lovely that you still have those interests.

Ok well i loved history, art and things of the like. I have FIVE kids and if even ONE of then had to study one subject for an entire day they would come one in an ill mood and totally wiped! I just couldn't manage that. It is WRONG to put kids through that i mean with is WRONG with the educators there. Children are not wired that way. They cant sit and focus on one thing for an entire day it is not in there make up. I mean would they play a video game all day long if it where just walk down this road. step on the can....walk on.... Sorry nope won't hold there interest. There is NO way the majority of kids in that school can learn well in that environment. I would take this to the school board or start a petition amongst the parents. Get organized and stop the insanity.

Thanks for your excellent response. Yes, studying a favorite for a whole day would be too much I think. The sporty types liked the PE all day but I imagine all of them got tired. Most of the Year 7 students hated the spelling. My brother in law wrote a letter to that school asking to see a copy of the bullying policy and they haven't replied. They praise students with 100% attendance and yet today there it was pointless.

My favorite subject was Maths, and my least favourite science. I guess this explanes why I'm not mad acout sci fi movies, but love mystery and dramas that you can follow logically. Mike.

Hi Maxine, In my country they have several subjects in a school day. I would hate every one if I had to do it all day. Besides, one learns better if you donĀ“t do the same thing all day long. When I was at school, I liked Language, Literature and Science. I think when one is young, it depends a lot on the teacher you have. If the teacher motivates you, you like what you are learning. Hug!

Ugh, an entire day of P.E.? I would have begged my mom to let me stay home if I had an entire day of P.E. for school. She wouldn't have let me, but it wouldn't have stopped me from asking her! In school my favorite subjecy was History. I just devoured everything I could get my hands on regarding historical subjects. I made straight A's, but that didn't mean I liked all the subjects I took. I hated science, never did enjoy it.

Hello maximax, I think it is not right to concentrate on one subject for a whole day. Take for example your son, who have a whole day of Physical education. The result was he was too exhausted and I think it is not really good for the health. Our mind too will be tired of thinking and concentrating on one subject the whole day. My favorite subject was Mathematics, but I hate History or something related to that.

Hi Maximax, that is quite frankly the most ridiculous method of study time I have ever heard for children of that age, they need to intersperse the day with variety and not stick to one subject for the whole day or they will lose their concentraton, and PE should be spaced through the week to break up lessons. I hope that you'll have success in taking these things up with the Head of the school. Yet again another good reason why I opted out of my son being eductated in the UK. Fave subject history, worst subject physics.

I always had a hard time with Math, myself. It was definitely not my favorite subject. I always and still do have a hard time figuring in my head. I was good in spelling, myself, and always enjoyed it. I never did have to study for a test in spelling. I used to like English, too, until we started having Literature along with it in the seventh grade. That's when I started having a lot of problems. I hear that they don't have Literature along with English in high school now. I wonder why they decided to quit having it? Kathy.

When I was in high school, I was in the band and glee club. I enjoyed my music classes. No, I don't think it's right for a child to spend all day in one subject. It would be boring sure enough. If they were having problems with a particular subject, they definitely need to spend a little more time with it, though. Kathy.
