There is a rumour that he is making a movie based on the book by George Orwell. What do you think? Can he do it? I hope it will be awesome.

I didn't find anything on IMDB. Guess I'll need to start reading my Hollywood Reporters again. It would be fantastic, Burton's style would make it really wonderful.
Hopefully it's not being confused with him making his 1984 short "Frankenweenie" into an actual movie with Disney

There isn't much on IMDb yet, except for this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0498637/ and some discussions in the forums.
It hasn't been officially announced (or commented in any other way) by Tim Burton, so maybe it's just a rumor. We also don't know if he will be the director or only a producer.

It'll be interesting to see how he'd adapt it, if this goes ahead. It doesn't really fit his dark fairy tale /fantasy style imo.
I wonder if this'd be an remake or 'reinmagining' of the previous film (from 1984 itself) or even the BBC's classic 1950's play (with Peter Cushing), or if it's going directly back to the book.
I wonder if it'll be Americanized or kept set in England and how much of the book would survive unsanitised. It's pretty grim/serious and a film would need an intelligent script and performances to be true to the book's spirit.

I can't imagine these dolls in the script of 1984, on camera. It would totally change my perception of what 1984 is, and is about. For me, 1984 was an instigator of paranoia and delusional thinking. It is important to me in this way, but it will be inviting to have the merciful difference featured in the otherwise sad story line.
