Its actually sweet especially if it involves long distance relationship. I think it is more personal because you dont just have to type the letters, the fun thinking is writing it with your own hand. You will know that the person who gave you the letter really put his heart and mind on it - unless its a hate mail =)

Hi redphile: nice comment, i found this way to find friends very sweet but i'd else want to ask you if you have find a partner on a snail mail, that would be better and as you mention it's better to express your feelings in a letter.

i don't think so, there is something so nice and personal about receving a handwritten note on paper. there is that nice rush of receiving something in the mail when the postman comes round. i have friends all over the world who are forever moving around so emailing them is usually better than snail mail and some of them live so far away and sometimes i need to get news to them promptly so i email. as i am sure i have mentioned before, i adopted 3 soldiers through a writing program, because while they are out there in the war zone, sometimes some of them do not get any mail from home. others had even stopped going for mail call. so as a soldier's angel i write to those who get no mail from home. i use snail mail, so that they too receive something in the mail, and it boosts their morale. so yeah snail mail totally rocks! you are not backward at all!

I do not think that that is backward at all. I think it's a very romantic thing to do, regardless of what your writing about or to whom. It's a very nice thing to do and I am sure it is a lot of fun to wait for the letter to come in the postal mail, and to reply... I also think there's a lot to be said about a person with great handwriting. I, myself, do not have the best handwriting. Funnily enough, my husband and I have similar handwriting.

Hi shirlyne: I don't think so but i'm not sure how does it works because i don't like snail mails and i delet them as junk mail. But if you gain a lot of friend in doing snail mailing you must be a very nice person and have a good luck, there's nothing better than having friends so you must feel like a lucky person.

I don't think you're backward. While it is great to be able to dash off a few lines in an IM or email, there is something to be said for taking the time to get pen and paper or a card, write it out, address and stamp it, and walk it to the mailbox or post office. It takes a lot more effort to snail mail and people should realize that you think they are worth it. Also, as a genealogist, it is a great thing to have someone's handwriting and signature.
