If God showed up to you...

What if you had a life of miseries and full of problems? You lost you job, home, and still full of debts, and at the same time lost you love ones. You ended up in the streets to sleep, begging for food or a couple of penny, and then God showed up to you, what would be your first words to tell Him?
Please answer as if your in that position and not a practical or smart response. Honesty would be the best answer.

Well, that's easy, I'd ask him "WHY?"
Then after He'll explain everything and I'd be contented with His answer, I'd tell him that I'd like to request that I die and go to heaven with him or be with my loved ones again. I don't think He's too harsh to leave me be after all the things that I have been going through that type of life.
I think we all would like to know why things happened to us.

Yup, that's the best response I could also think of, of course at first I'll get mad and compare my situation to others but evently I'll be glad to see Him.

I would ask what I could do for him. He obviously had a reason for me to go through the trials I had, just look at Job. He was taken down to nothing to prove a point and God blessed him with ten times more than what he had because he kept faith.

Yup, I think I heard that story, that's why I started this discussion, because of that. The question is, does man today have that kind of faith? All of what you have, the things you worked out for without cheating and purely hard work would all end up losing? I can't imagine what would someone honestly feel and react.

It's that your present situation? Don't worry, we all know God has a plan for each one of us and at the end things will go well.

Honestly, if God showed up in front of me, I think he would appear in such a beautiful image, and the love that would pour out from him, would only make all the sufferiing I have endured go away. If he appeared to me, it would probably because he has come to tell me that everything would be alright, and that he loved me, and saw my suffering.
There is a reason why we all must suffer in different ways, and only God knows why. It is possible that the homeless person on the street is there to help us learn compassion, instead of walking over him and ignoring him. That homeless person is probably an angel sent from God to teach us many things. It is possible that a homeless person is at peace and knows his role in this life.

Your response reminded me of the song "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me.
I can only imagine
what it will be like
when i walk by your side
I can only imagine
what my eyes will see
when your face is before me
i can only imagine
surrounded by your glory
what will my heart feel
will i dance in your presence?
or in honor of you be still?
will i stand in your presence?
or to my knees will i fall?
will i sing hallelujah?
will i be able to speak at all?
I don't think I'd be able to fathom how beautiful God is. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE!!!

I would really thank my Lord for bringing my through what had happened, and then thank Him for coming to get me! You see, about 15 years ago, I lost my job, apartment, car, had to sleep in my brother's yucky trailer, on his sofa, just to have a place to rest my head so I wouldn't have to go to a shelter. This happened after I had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and Lupus, lost the feeling in my legs, and all kinds of other things. Yes, I'd be thrilled to see my Lord!

I'm an atheist, so I'd say "I'm sorry, but you didn't provide me with enough evidence."

I'm am Christian woman and I believe firmly in "keeping it real". Here's the truth.. I think almost all of us would look at God and say "WHY". Why did you forsake me? What did I do to deserve this? Why did you take you so long to get here? Etc... Even Jesus cried out "Why".
Faith can be a very tough and trying thing. And I don't like it when people, espically believers portray that they are walking on some super spiritual cloud. Not a single one of us would be happy with the scenerio and would certainly want to know "why me".

Yup, your right. Even in just small things we ask God "Why", that only proves that man is imperfect and can be easily be broke. But through this we become either stronger to our faith or be broke forever.

Hi Charmz ...
Obviously, my first attitude toward God would be claim, to ask why these things happen to me ... however, I'm gladthat it was visible in person at me ... that would change my sorrow into joy and my tears into joy, because when the Lord comes, things change, everything changes ...
But to be honest, obviously I wolud ask for an explanation, ask him why does HE let all that, and what will be thereafter.
Blessings!!
