What type of articles do you write?

Are you stuck in one niche or do you write whatever hits you upside the head? LOL. For me, I find it easier to write whatever inspires you. Usually I stay in a niche without even trying. Do you write outside of a niche or do you stick to one main category?

Hello, Mommaj. I write to inspiration, as I find it's much easier to write about a thought you've had or a sentence you've heard than to think of something to write about a particular subject. I've written on anything and everything, and I often find that I'm in the middle of a response on Mylot and a little light goes on in my head to make me think, 'That would make a great article if I played around with it for a while.' I also get inspiration when rating articles on Helium. I used to see rating as a boring but necessary chore, but now I realise it's a source of inspiration as well.

I usually write as the little light bulbs flash in my head as well. Then I realize my kids are playing with the camera. LOL I hate rating articles on Helium. Rating score proves it. LOL Anyway, I usually get my inspiration for an article through them when I search titles. I don't like to write from what I have rated because I am afraid that my brain will somehow pick up other people's information and I will write an article that was someone else's, not meaning to. I only write from scratch. It's sooo easy for anyone to claim your words belong to them. If I have never seen their work, then I know, it is all me and they are lying!

Canellita, that is a good way of looking at it. I haven't really put the time or energy into rating lately. I would hate to write the same article someone else did because I read their article while rating. LOL

I used to feel the same way about rating at helium. Now I have a ridiculously long list of titles I plan to write to eventually. BTW Sandra, I got your PM, I just haven't had a chance to visit your helium profile.

I would love to be a niche writer and only compose articles that were on topics that meant something to me but it isn't necessarily the best way to make money, especially online.

LOL. Tell me about it. It's hard to make money without knowing what to write about. If you are just chasing page views entertainment works the best. If you are looking for upfronts you have to throw specialties and evergreen into the mix.

What is evergreen?

Sorry, I must not be getting all my notifications again. LOL Evergreen articles are articles that stand the test of time. Most of them will be as true a year from now. Evergreen articles are articles that you can read anytime that aren't seasonal. Parenting articles are evergreen. Most of the arts and crafts articles, especially how-to are evergreen. I am trying to transfer some of my articles onto helium now from ac. I think I am contributing alot. LOL

I'm into niche topics. Well, basically one niche (probably general) only, health. However, this niche is much more general to handle so I started to work with a less general niche like digestive disorders and kidney disorders. But these topics can be shown as general topics as well, as there are many topics covered here. When starting a niche topic, sooner or later your going to find out that there are more subtopics that you can discuss. For example, after writing about the topic peptic ulcer, you find out that the most common cause of peptic ulcer is infection with the H. pylori bacteria. Now, you might want to write an article about this type of bacteria. And again, you discover other things and start to write something bout that and so on. One topic can become broad as you go along.

Niche topics are usually just general because there are so many other more specific topics that can go into a general topic. Your niche would still be health. Health is such a huge topic. You should do really good with that.

Its been a long time since I wrote an article. It depends on what topic I know well. I do not like to write on something I do not know very well. Mostly my articles would be based on something I like.

I think it is important to write about what you know. You have to write about what you like or you are liable to burn out quickly. I think it is good to write about what you enjoy. Usually you are knowledgable about the subject you enjoy.

Well, since the niche you choose should be very specific or targeted, then you probably should stick to writing about whatever it is that the specific niche is about. That is not to say that you can't do more than one niche, but obviously the more targeted it is, and the more specific long tail keywords you use, the better.

I usually stick to parenting or on a broader spectrum, Lifestyle. I sometimes get an inspiration to write about autos or something that I don't normally write and the articles turn out just as good. I wondered if it is more likely that you write in one section or that you write in many.

Dear Ms. M, It depends on my mood. There were times when i feel like responding on to light discussions, but most of the time i find it interesting responding on family-oriented discussions, health-related discussions and anything about LIFE. Varied and fun!

If you join the writing sites, you can write about whatever you wish. You have to write an article or rewrite a plr article, as I have heard being done.
