What Is The Government Thinking???

I was just watching my local news. They did a segment on how Social Security will pay for kidney dialysis & a kidney transplant for any age person needing it. Once they have the transplant, the patient is required to take anti-rejection drugs for the rest of their life. Those drugs cost $10-15 thousand per year. Social Security will only pay for the first 36 months of these drugs & then the patient is on their own. Why pay for the operation if they're not going to pay for the drugs??? If the patient needs to go on dialysis or needs another transplant due to not taking the drug, they will pay for it. This seems like a waste of money to me. What do you think???

This is one reason why the United States is going down little by little. The government be wasting money on things that are not necessary. I wish they would use some money for educational purposes or to help people get a job instead of wasting that money on crap.

I don't find the transplant to be crap. I find it delporable that they don't help with the required meds after the transplant to be crap...especially since they will pay for a second transplant if needed. I can see them saying you earn enough to be able to pay for these meds if the person earns a good salary. I agree education should be a top priority.

There must be some kind of [faulty]logic to the government's thinking. Maybe they expect that after three years of having a transplant, you'll be strong enough to re-join the workforce and be able to hold down a high-paying job or three.

Maybe. Why pay for the transplant to begin with if you're not going to follow through???

And I thought I knew the dumbest people apparently not if they are people out their doing stupid stuff like that. I doubt insurance company's would pay for it or all of it either. Well it seems all they are willing to give someone is three years after the surgery then it is take the meds and go in debt or don't take them and end up dying...neither way is a good choice. I guess it is their way to force people to start taking better care of themselves for they won't have to have a need for them.Still so wrong in so many ways..

I would say they need to rethink that one Thank goodness we do not have that here in the UK but that is terrible People can only just afford to live never mind more Bills on top of that I know that in 5 years I am looking at an 80% Chance of a double Lung Transplant and if I would have to pay for the after Treatment I would not have it done as I could not afford to

hi LadyMarissa, it sure seems like they are deliberately trying to destroy everything. they don't seem to have rational thinking.
