I am watching America's Next Top Model season 13 now. In this season in order to give more girls a chance to be a model. So the candidates are under 5'7. And I noticed one is even 5'3. I think as a catwalk model, they shall be higher. When they walk with other models, they look like very small and this is amusing. I still prefer that the models like them should meet some standards.

Is an average woman 5.7? maybe an average woman is 5.3 or 5.5? and who created all standards for model to be 5.7 and weight 97 pounds? it is like walking skeleton with cloths.... I think it is about time to celebrate real girl and real woman...

im really glad they are letting shorter girls in. i have always thought about being a model but being only 5'4 or average in other words i have never really tried because i know the industry is dominated by tall women maybe that will change now and i can become one too? i really hope so :)

The one that that really bothered me is that they put some much emphasis on short girls but only one of them is 5'3? Height as jack to do with anything in modeling other than what the standards are already set to as in skelator skinny and really tall models. This show has become so much of a joke lately.

It's a good chance for girls below 5'7 to be given a chance to be a model. There are extra-size models, so there must also be models who are petite. Anyways, since they are short, they must work extra hard to enhance their height through their poses, like making an illusion that they are taller.

It is nice that short girls are given the chance to prove that they also be models... so this means that the tall ones can no longer dominate the modelling industry... i haven't watched any of the episodes yet... but i am looking forward to it... i just hope i have the time...

I think it was unfair in the first place to put criteria on a model. Everybody's different. Some tall, short, fat, skinny, etc. Everyone has different taste in people. They do so much with photography these days. They airbrush in what they want a person to have or not to have. Why should height make a difference in todays world. The only place maybe it should matter would be on the runway. I dont even think at this point it should really matter. I think if you're a good looking person and you have the look that designers are looking for. dl

Model is not limited to runway model only. Market open widely for commercially model and petite model as well. Whether a model can carry a cloth nicely is very much depend on the ratio of their body. Like this season, most of them can carry the dress so pretty. Therefore, why should we limit the height of model.

Perhaps this is why they also need plus size models.
