Do you drink water before taking meals?

Some people who's in diet said that it's better to drink a lot of water before taking meals as it makes them feel full thus makes them eat little. Yeah, it's true that it's healthier to drink water before taking meal as it enable for our stomach to immediately digest food. But drinking too much water before eating it dilutes gastric juice and weaken its digestion function, causing the food unable to be digested and absorbed completely. That's gradually cause the intestines and gastric diseases.
Do you drink water before or during meals?

I drink water before taking meals. Ive consulted many doctors regarding this issue, they all were unite at the point that its better to take water before the meals rather than taking water after the meals. Scientifically it is good to take water before taking meals and thats why ive made this my routine.

It's great to know that it's really proven by doctors as you've mentioned. Because some people don't really take the importance of drinking water before meals. Well anyway, it's good that somehow you'd able to make it as a routine.

It's not good to drink TOO MUCH water before meals, as those people who's on diet making it as a habit, since it makes them feel full. It's only good to drink water, not plenty.

I don't drink water before taking my meal. I think its not good to drink a lot of water before eating. How can we become healthy if our body lacks energy. We intake food to be energized. The more adequate food, the more energy. Although we need water in our body, it doesn't mean we have to prioritize taking it than eating.
Consider yourself working hard labors. You cannot exert force well if you have no energy. So better eat a lot of food than drink plenty of water.

We need enough food as much as we need enough water. It should be a balance. Actually I didn't mean that people should drink plenty of water before taking meals. What I said is to drink water before meals. Drinking TOO MUCH water before meals is harmful to our health.

I did before, I drink water or soup too much, which hurted my stomach, it's so fragile now. I will be fine if I drink after meals.
If you are a slight illness in digestion system, it's better not to drink before your meal.

It's not be good to drink TOO MUCH water or soup before meals, as your digestive system could not digest the food because of TOO MUCH water, and it dilute the gastric juice that's help for digesting food. As result you have problem in your digestive system, so you're right it's better to take water after every meals, that's in your case.

I had heard that it was good for dieting, but I keep forgetting to do it. Water is really good for you too. Keeps your skin soft and healthy. You don't need to drink too much water before your meal to start the feeling of satiety. I think about an 8-16 oz glass should do it for most. Besides, I think more acid is produced when the food actually hits the stomach.

Yeah, you're right our stomach produced gastric acid even when the food hits our stomach, thus it's not good to drink too much water before eating meals because it only dilute the acid that's needed for food digestion. So after taking meals then it's good to drink plenty of water.

Not really, careguarden! I don't pay attention on it! I drink before meal just coz I'm thirsty then. And people also said drinking water before meal is harmful, as it water down gastric juice. (Now lunch time is coming, and I'm drink tea. It's said more harmful, as gastric juice is acid, and tea is alkaline.)
I think maybe drink soup before meal is a better way as people in Canton do.It works the same as drinking water but better, I think.

Well as I've known drinking water before meals is important and and more healthier. Because it will wash out all the leftovers and acids in the stomach before new food enters. And it's good good either to drink fruit juices, soda,tea, etc., before taking meals. Water does not dilute gastric juice in our body it's only when we drink too much water. There's no such thing as harmful when it comes to drinking water. That's what I know.
By the way some research said that it's better to drink water after drinking tea. Because tea contained some elements that cause to dry our skin and can affect early aging.

but I often drink water after having meals.

I think it is better drink water after food not between and before.If you are trying to loose weight,you can drink water slipping food.If you drink 3 or 4 glasses of water in empty stomach you can avoid many of the diseases..

Yeah, it's good to drink few glasses of water everyday as our body need it for proper digestion of food that we take, and circulation of our blood and our entire system. It's great that you have a habit of drinking water before taking meals as it will give you good benefits.

I really do not do that. If I drink any fluid or water before eating, I usually lose my appetite. You may find it hard to believe but I only drink water or softdrinks after I have eaten all my food. That is the time that I drink water. But from time to time, I drink water. I consume around 8-10 glasses of water every day. And when I am in any physical activity, then I drink more.

Usually i drink water before taking meals,and I think it a bad habit to drink during meals or after taking meals. Maybe you can drink waterat least an hour after meals .

I think if you drink water before eat then who you can eat food properly. It may be also effect you digestion system the chemicals and other think with mix time of digest food is not as effective as it can be. I an Indian in country we drink water after 1/2 hr. eating food. So it can be useful to digest your food.
