I like to respond to as many discussions as possible. However, there are so many that I must make a choice. I base my decision on something very simple. If It's someone who basically created a discussion by rewording an entire news story or magazine article, I dont answer. I think its easy to do that. I answer the discussions that ask odd questions that let me know a fellow myLotter is thinking them up for themselves. Some discussions are done more than once but mostly because its an interest of another myLotter who hasnt seen the other discussion. I answer them as well. It just get annoyed that some of us our trying or thinking of how to create a fun, and interesting discussion. I have started discussions on stories I have heard in the news. I dont use one sentence from a newpaper or magazine etc. I tell you what I heard and how I feel about that. You can go on myLot at any time of the day and find at least two discussions that have been taken directly from print of some kind. I think it should be reported negatively. How fair is it that everyone else is trying to think up valid discussion topics and some dont? If they want to tell about some current event issue, use your own words. Then Ill answer. What discussions dont you respond to? dl

I don't respond when it's a topic I know absolutely nothing about, when it's a topic I'm not interested in, when it's something like "what's your favorite color" and sometimes when it will take some research that I just don't have time for.

That all depends. When it comes to different discussions, different people may have different ideas and actions.
From where I stand, I want to try my best to post as many as responses to other new discussions. However, when I meet some questions that are difficult to give correct answers or I have not been familiar with, I will tend to post nothing to these kinds of discussions. In fact, it is impossible for most people to respond to all discussions for we are not all-around persons.
When I meet some discussions that I am familiar with, I will share my experience without any reservation.

The one time that I won't respond to a discussion is if there is something that I don't have a comment on, or in which I am not interested. I am not really interested in sports, for example, so i really have nothing to say on a lot of discussions related to sports.

Hi there!
I agree with you that original and meaningful discussions which are ‘created’ and framed by the mylotters are better. I also love to respond to those discussions, where I can share my thoughts and say something about the topic. Many a times news items/stories or mention of movies or TV programmes appear complex issues to me and I find myself unable to answer those posts.

Were you on vacation?
I missed seeing you here these last few days.
Or mayve I was in different places?
Or maybe you were avoiding me all together?

Hi mys!
Yes, I was on vacation and was celebrating the festival of Diwali.
It feels great to know that I was being missed.
Please don't ever think or imagine that I can dare to avoid you. If I start avoiding my dear friends like you, it means I no more 'exist' on mylot altogether.
Have a great day!

hello dloveli,
ofcourse there are some discussions that i don't give a response. and that is, if i don't have idea or enough idea about it. for if i will try, my response will have no sense and not appealing to anyone who will read it.
also when i find the discussions difficult to understand and i've already response before - same with the previous discussions. though sometimes, i still do it but not more often.

Yap, we need appreciation in something we do once in a while.
Getting some response is one way of an appreciation in something you did.

HJi dloveli: It seems that you have a nice criteria of selection. In my case i have to admit that i don't have any special way to chose a discussion. In my case this is just about pure intuation: if you find a discussions that you feel it fits to you, that this makes you move, talk, discuss, etc or you just think that you can give a good advice you just enter. Thanks.

Hi shajerrl: I agree with you. Sometimes it's not about the subject and its complexity what makes something interesting, it's the way you feel it touch you, your family, country, religion, humanity, etc. what makes a discussion interesting. Some discussions are interesting no matter if we have been discussing those subjects for ages, for exemple the philosophic discusssions about what means love, why are we here on earth, what did we want to do with our lives, etc.

Ones that I think are kind of silly and others where my opinion would be offensive to people out there. I really only respond to discussions I think I can make a real contribution to. Not ones where I would be ineffectual.

I too try to respond to as many discussions as possible but I don not respond to discussions about which I know nothing. I also don't respond to discussions which violate the terms of mylot. I have recently found many discussions duplicated and I don't like write the same answers more than once. Then there are discussions which are too silly or I don't understand.
Anyways have a nice time.

I don't respond to a discussion if it's something I don't know anything about. Also, if it's immoral in any way, I won't respond to it. I feel like the reason why some people don't tell about a current issue in their own words is because they have trouble explaining it in their own words. I got in trouble not too long ago for this and I was accused of plagiarizing and I certainly didn't mean to do this. I go to church and I try to do right. Kathy.

Hi dloveli
Same with you, I try and like to respond to as many discussion as possible. H,,., I think discuss some event or news is okay, as long as the starter use their own words, not just copy-paste the words from the news. I don't mind to respond to this kind of discussion if it's unique, interesting (but still, I can't find words beside "oh, that's interesting, thank's for your info" LOLz)
I prefer to respond to discussion related to daily live or question, etc. I won't respond to discussion about religion. Never. Just afraid there will be a debate or too emotional/fanatics people join and.. you know, there will be a conflict/debate. I don't like it, try to avoid it. Other is about sport. I don't really like sport so I don't have much to say about it (except if the starter ask "What kind of sport that you like?"

Yes, I’ll not respond to one line discussions or inane topics like what’s the color of my eyes, how many times I brush and so on!
Sometimes one liners are interesting and I do respond back with my views but most of them are not. And then there are discussions where I have nothing to add…I don’t respond to such discussions.

There are three interests which I avoid as I feel I cannot add anything to them at all. One I know nothing about at all and the other two I consider them too personal to discuss here - religion, politics and s*x. You can work out for yourself which is the one I know nothing about
I tend to stick to any topic that can be a bit of fun. I can't relate tomany of the discussions which deal with a news article and tend to avoid those too. I do not only stick to disucions bythose on my friend list though. It doesn't matter who starts a discussion, if it's interesting and I can add a bit of banter, I will!

I don't respond to those tha don't interest me or that are controversial, like politics and religion. Also, if there are repeat discussions, then I will basically post to one or so, as I want to help others as they minght not know hot ow earn here or have other questions that need answereing. I try to help them as much as possible, as I was helped when I was a newbie, so I want to return the favor. Sometimes I will help a user knowing full well, that the disucssion would be deleted, but I am willing to lose a little to help so they don't lose earnings. That is what it is all about is being willing to help others, as we can all use help at one time or another. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

I agree with you. Personally I like to work on my creativity and writing skills on mylot. If all I did was just copy a news story word for word, then I wouldn't be helping myself out at all. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Eventually these people get caught or there cheating ways run their course. These type of people are just in it for the money. If they can just cut and paste a bunch of news related items and make money doing so, they will. However, this will not help them in the long run and many of these websites that pay for articles or discussions end up cutting them off. It is better to work honestly and let the money come of itself.
Of course, as you have stated, there is no problem in writing about some news event you have read or seen and giving your perspective on it. In my opinion, this is good journalism.

U have a point here,.Some discussions are very borring.I don't like to talk about politics, for example,it's not for me.But some people initiate some discussions simply to have something to talk about.Maybe they take a neespaper and cut a subject exactly how it's wrriten and like this they have a top discussion.I like original discussions and things from life, what happend to u;ask an opinion, create something personal, wich involves us,too.I really like how dl thinks!
