The age grows naturally. but the realization of persons about it takes place in various ways. one day your some cousin is meeting you and telling you ' oh! since when your hairs started getting grey? that day once you looked at mirror, you are seeing them and thinking oh, i am getting old. now everyday whenever you look at mirror, for no reason your eyes get glued on your grey hairs.
After a long gap, while meeting an old school friend;once he asked how about you kids? you replied the first one has just finished university. he replied, friend we are getting old. instantly you also felt that you have grown old.
have you ever felt that you are getting old?

i am not very good at english ,but i think that i can express my meaning.
i always think that growing up has to be divided into 3 parts.
1:your body ;2:your age which everybody know;3:your heart or to say mind ,or spirit(i dont know how to say it exactly).
people always say, that when people start to recollect his memories,he is starting toget old.though i am still very young (not even 18),but sometimes i feel that my mind is getting old.sometimes i will just sitting at somewhere, thinking about what i have done in the past, with some special emotion like lament(i dont know this word is right or not ,but in chinese i mean ??),with no happiness or sadness, just like watching the movie of yourself, and feeling great power to the future.
may be borhan's situation is both the first one and the third one.

Whenever my birthday is coming I would just say i'm getting old chronologically. Then I know I'm getting old physically when I just would get tire easily doing the same things when I was younger.
And when nephews and nieces are getting bigger and taller than you. And when you sleep late but still wake up at same time as when you sleep early. And of course seeing more white hair when you comb your hair and someone really notices white hair sticking out from your head.
And when reunions for high school are now in the 25th year or so.

Yes, birthday are the benchmarks for reminding us about our age. Not only that it reminds us what all are left yet to do, what life wanted and what we achieved. your school reunion is on 25th now? wow ! i finished my school in 1985. Days pass very fast.

When I saw a white hair on my head, I understood that I am getting old. I am still in late twenties and I couldn't take the reality that I had a white hair and I am getting old. I got very upset and sad. My husband are consoling me saying that both of us are still young and I look very pretty. Everybody is getting old day by day and we need to accept the reality.

We people get old and we must understand to it. I am still young now but I am afraid to get old because I am not yet satisfied for my life right now as young one. I don't want to have a white hair and my skin will change which I am really afraid of.

Age takes away external beauty many times. But the internal beauty, which you bear by your personality and socialization is the main beauty. Most of the times we look for external beauty, and later we realize.
Dont get much puzzled thinking on this issue that you are getting old. Groom up yourself from your soul. You will remain evergreen. You will never feel yourself as an old person. Thank you.

When I see I have more grey hair and my child grows up, then at that time I realize that I am growing old at the same time. How time flies! Yesterday it seems that he was only a baby, but next year he will go to the primary school.

hi borhan,
Though sometimes we feel sad that we are getting old it is fact and should be accepted. I too realise that i am getting old but not through simply seeing grey hair on my head. When even we see people who are younger than us we will defintely know that we are getting old as the tasks they perform cannt be performed by us after some age. I also agree with you that if some friend meets you suddenly and asks you such question as said by you we instanly feel that we grown old.

I discovered that I was not immortal but part of a long chain when I was 19 years old and I had my first baby. That day I found myself old for the first time. Along the years I have begun to think that feeling old is a relative thing. Somedays I wake up teenager, some others I´m a hundred years old.
I was quite shocked once when a mylotter read my profile and decided I was an old lady. Parts of my body are old, like the knees. But I am not old all the time. And it doesn´t show, anyway.
Take care

I always see signs that I am getting old. It is not because of gray hairs though, I have had those since I was 13 and have dyed my hair ever since. It's when I see little kids doing things that I didn't and my maternal instinct kicks in and I think woa they are too young for that. It also happens when I go into stores that I frequented in my youth to look at clothes and I don't like any of them. Of course I seem to get sore in places I didnm't know existed, and then I know for absolute sure that I am getting old, and slowly I am learning to deal with it. 25 was difficult for me, but I think 30 will be easier. I guess we will see. It seems 40 is no longer "old:" Although, I have thought about staying at 28!!!

I just tend to accept the reality and day by day I make it a point that I`m able to do something worthwhile in my life and that keeps me happy growing up.

there are a lot of signs that sometimes i refuse to acknowledge, hahahaha. honestly, i know i am getting older. just looking at how big my children are and noticing how old they are, i confirmed to myself that i am getting older. when i attended burial rites of an aunt last sunday, i can see that i could no longer recognize children of my cousins. they have grown big and, in fact, have their own families. it made me realize how old i am already. also, i forget things more often than when i was still younger. and i easily get tired from a game. climbing up the 4 storeys where our office is located is already an ordeal unlike when i was younger.

Since I have this gorgeous son, somehow I feel getting old. Especially when you realize what have you been through, your journey in life, then got married and have a child then seeing your child growing up sooo quick. Everyday looking at him growing make me realize that I am getting old. But it's not a bad thing or sad thing, I guess. Even you're getting old but life still goes on and the journey not just stop right there just because you're getting old. Getting old make me feel wiser, and want to share more this life with my family and friends. Getting old not about the look, etc.grey hair, wrinkles..young age people can have grey hair or wrinkles as well if they don't look after their body or because of the stress.

once you see your children are growing up, you may realize that you are also growing up. this growing may be getting old. but the immense happiness of life also starts appearing from that time. the life, since our childhood, our schooling, playing in the school ground, starring at the most beautiful girl of your class, then college life, university, job, career hunting, in between getting into family, own kids, helping wife in kitchen---- thousands of happy moments. once we attain old age, we really start enjoying the truth of life.

Getting old goes quickly by the number every time you have a birthday and it even add up to the burden of thinking one grow old fast without accomplishment is another factors which just thinking makes a person appears old and tired. Thus, being old is inevitable and every one could experience it as time flies fast and so is the appearances changes both the physical and emotional aspects. One could be old physically but manage to retain the state of being young with the way a person think in optimistic ways avoiding being a pessimist would likely makes the aging process quickly and fast.

Ok signs that I'm getting old, um more body pains back, feet, knees an neck.
Also grey facial hair around my chin area, other than I look exactly like I did when I was a teen, I'm young looking anyways guess it's because of my fair skin, because I stay out of the sun, because the sun an I don't get along...lol :D
The price of being redheaded I guess.
