Do you expect something in return when you give service to others?

I feel that when one does something for someone out of goodwill, it should be done with no strings attached. By this I do not mean that everything should be charity. One should learn to be discrete about situations and act accordingly. Any comments???

I agree with you.If you did goodwill then it all for good will not to expect in return. It's up to the person then how to value your good will but better not to expect something.

hello there,
When we say charity,we should never expect something in return,it is not charity then.
If we do something good and we expect something good,it depends on the person whom we had given our services.
How can we expect something in return from a beggar, when we know he/she can never afford to repay our good deeds.
We should always remember that, doing good to other people if we do it from our hearts,we do it whole heartily,God will give us good/reward in return.
And,in my opinion,i would rather do good thing to other people without expecting in return or,without asking any favor in return.
I would rather let GOD do the repay for all the good things i ever done to people who really needs help.

Yes, You are right. We cannot expect anything from something done out of goodwill. We just hope.......

On the contrary i believe every good deed should be rewarded. I think that the more people are rewarded for their goodwork the more services they will give to others.

Yes I do expect something in return and that is a simple "thank you". I'm not gonna lie and say that if I did someone a favor or service that i'm just gonna stand there and fake my smile if I don't hear any sign of appreciation. When that happens I really don't feel like doing that same person other favors and service again.
