Once or time and again?

I have not managed to read as many books as I used to, but when I can I read a lot. Little women is one book I read over and over when I was younger. Now I find that I tend to read books just once. Do you have a book that will read again and again? Or do you find once you have read a book you won't pick it up again?

Most books I just read once, but I re-read the Poldark series of novels by Winston Graham, about life in 18th and 19th century Cornwall, every couple of years or so. I never tire of reading them, and I find something new every time.
I recently read a book by Vam McDermid, 'The Grave Tattoo,' which is set in the present day but links back to the time of Wordsworth and The Mutiny on the Bounty. I was so impressed with it that, instead of exchanging it as I usually do once I've read a book, I've kept it so I can read it again in the future. It's the first time I've ever felt that I'd want to re-read a single book.

Personally, for me, it depends on how Good the book really is and the mood I am in. Because for the most part I think I tend to be one who reads a Book once and either will try and sell it at a Yard Sale or give it away to someone. The only ones I tend to hold on too or read again are books I really enjoy, or books by my favorite authors as well.

i remember my love for reading started when i was in 6th grade. i used to love reading, nancy drew, hardy boys, anne of green gables, and loads more of childrens books which i read over and over again. then i started reading hystorical romance novels, dan brown, harry potter. i reread a few but to refresh my memory. but i guess i dont reread books anymore is that i dont have the time to. i would still love to read but i find it hard to squeeze into the things i have to do everyday.

I tend to only read books once - there are just too many books I want to read. However, I do re-read favourites such as Wuthering Heights and Thomas Hardy's Return of the Native as well as some old childhod favourites like the magic Faraway Tree when I want to recapture my childhood!

Most books I read only once. But when you get old like me, you tend to forget the plots and the characters. I remember I cried profusely while reading Les Miserables. But now I can't remember why. So, I had to reread. There are many stories that are worth reading again. Keep your books. They will be pleasurable company in the future.
