White House needs to Call off the Attack Dogs.....

I went looking for evidence that the Obama White House is trying very hard to muzzle the press. I also wanted evidence for the bias that is so very apperant in the reporting of MSNBC and CNN.
Here is what I found.
The Weekly Standard
Well, it's not the first time the Grande Liberal Dame of the press corps has had words for the Obama White House, but today Helen Thomas is voicing more unlikely sentiments by telling the White House attack dogs to heel in the Fox News fight.
In an interview with MSNBC, the columnist -- who is promoting her new book on presidents and their campaigns -- also stressed the White House ought to "stay out of these fights."
"They can only take you down. You can't kill the messenger," said Thomas, who has covered every president from John F. Kennedy to Barack Obama.

Then the NY Times chimes in:
Even though almost all the critiques contained a kernel of truth, in each instance the folks who had the barrels of ink, and now pixels, seemed to come out ahead. So far, the only winner in this latest dispute seems to be Fox News. Ratings are up 20 percent this year, and the network basked for a week in the antagonism of a sitting president. ...
It could all be written off as a sideshow, but it may present a genuine problem for Mr. Obama, who took great pains during the campaign to depict himself as being above the fray of over-heated partisan squabbling. In his victory speech he promised, “I will listen to you, especially when we disagree.”
The Nation at NBC:
The Obama administration really needs to get over itself.
First, the president and his aides go to war with Fox News because the network maintains a generally anti-Obama slant.
Then, an anonymous administration aide attacks bloggers for failing to maintain a sufficiently pro-Obama slant.
These are not disconnected developments.
An administration that won the White House with an almost always on-message campaign and generally friendly coverage from old and new media is now frustrated by its inability to control the debate and get the coverage it wants.
So...perhaps there is an effort by the White House to shut up and discredit any voice that disagrees? The entire article with links to NY Times, Weekly Standard and The Nation at NBC can be found here:

Just imagine if Pres Bush would have complained (whined) every time a news outlet criticized him or his policies! (Or had an enemies list like Pres Obama and white house does now.)

I think the answer to "why" they're doing it is right in everyone's face -- they don't attempt to hide it.
These brand of progressives actually want enemies. I mean, look at their big "plans."
From President Obama to his lowest of czars to the media that root him on via cable and printed news, they share one thing in common: a 60s-like radicalism.
They all came up fighting "the man" and blaming the system for people's failures. This is an ideology they still cling to. They're still looking to fight that big revolution.
America today is vastly different than it was those decades ago. If you want to find REAL racism, you'd be on a tough scavenger hunt. Maybe a little backwards town in Mississippi where 40-year-old-plus whites are still racist -- similar little backwards areas across the nation, few and extremely far between. Maybe one or two instances in the mainstream per year about a white person showing any type of legitimate discrimination to the a minority. This is the America we have today.
So this fight that they're picking is, in my opinion, calculated. The media want to paint everyone in opposition as racists. Where's the evidence? Who needs stinkin' evidence!? Those within the White House want to perpetuate that myth by marginalizing the likes of Fox and their audience.
They say, "Fox News isn't 'real' news." You can read "Fox News: racist liars, bitter a black President is in power!"
They need the country to be split into an us-vs.-them dogfight. This is where their "change" is at its best -- when "the man" is showing his face and ready to be stuck! They couldn't operate effectively without an enemy -- and the larger the government (read: 60s leftover radicals) grows, the more the enemy has to grow. The enemy not only has to be extremely large, but also an immediate threat.
Just you watch. The Fox News and Obama opposition won't stop. It will only intensify. They've laid the groundwork already. The profile of right-wing extremists. The comparisons of town hall participants to political assassins. The demonization of "the network" that they claim controls the pulse.
They'll eventually label Fox News as the most dangerous thing in America, and claim its viewers are brainwashed and enemies of progress.
It's the next logical step.
This is how they do business. They want to play the hero, so there has to be a villain.
Change we can believe in? I don't think so. Maybe change Ayers can be proud of -- minus the bombs, hopefully.

I agree that they seem to be manufaturing enemies. Reading these blogs of conservative blacks made that pretty clear.

It's simple. Obama can't handle the idea that there are people out there who refuse to worship at his feet. He is a spoiled brat who can't handle reality.

Comrade 0bama is still in campaign mode and is creating "enemy lists" much like Nixon did during his administration.
Although his propagandists are in full cry, the American people will not be fooled for long.
This will eventually come back to bite him just as Nixon was bit.
