15w or 5w which one is good for you in studio?

Commonly we talk about power of guitar amp. we mainly point on the electric power, but electric power is not equal to sound power, such 15w guitar amp is not three times lound than 5w. when we want record in studio,sepcail in home studio. first the amp need better sound , the style you want, smaller noise.Otherwise, because home studio is difficult to make good noise elimination, so if you use larger power amp, maybe some neighbore will complain you.so 5w amp maybe better than 15w.But if you want to play in gigs or Club, 5w seems too samller.In this situation. You better to use attenuator? Do you have some advices?
