would you rather be blind @ birth or become blind after an unfortunate incident?

as me and my friend were walking towards the jeepney terminal, we saw a woman and i think her husband walking slowly ahead of us. as we passed by them, we found out the husband is blind and that his wife is leading him with his walking telling him what lies ahead of their path, when he should step down. i asked my friend what would she prefer -- to be born blind or become blind after having met an accident or for some other reason. she said she'd rather be blind at birth than to see the world first and then you suddenly become blind -- it's more painful. i too, would rather be blind from the start -- at least then i won't regret anything.

The second option is the better option. Being blinded by an accident means you have seen things already and you have all these things in your memory. It's sad in the case of those who have not seen the world even at a glance since they will forever wonder what the world really looks like. Cheers!

but wouldn't you have more regrets when you've seen that? wouldn't it be much harder to deal with? i mean surely you'll regret or somehow you'll get angry with the world. that is a typical reaction for people who became blind. they'll get depressed and think of the world as cruel...

Well I'm just optimistic I guess. Seeing is better that not seeing at all. Just like the saying "its better to love and lost than to have not loved at all". Cheers!

That's a hard one I can't pick I would want to be blind after being able to see all the beauty the world has to offer at least that way I would have something to remember.

This is a hard one. If I was born blind then I wouldn't know what I was missing. If I became blind then at least I was able to see things that I wouldn't have if born blind. So I think I would have rather become blind so I could see and appreciate the beauty of the world before blindness had set in.

i would rather prefer becoming blind after an unfortunate incident or incurable disease than being born blind. if i become blind after i was born with sight, i wouldn't regret not having seen a glimpse of the earth. at least i know how my surroundings look, what color is grass and most of all, i am able to see the faces of my parents and my siblings. i am able to see how i look, too. and surely, my dreams will be vivid as i have memory of how things look. cheers.
