This is nothing personal but me and my colleagues just got to notice. In fact this was brought up by a writer in our place. He was writing about a ban passed by a local legislative body against a local song. But the writer gave that legislative a piece of his mind. Indeed, I also wanted to ask if you have ever noticed that there are several explicit lyrics in most of Britney Spears' songs? I could not understand how the song "If You Seek Amy" could get away from censorship or is there such thing in this world that could keep us from being duped into liking these tunes? Try to listen to this song again and tell me if I'm wrong. It seems there is a double meaning that relies on it sounding like letter F, letter, U, letter C, letter K and the pronoun me. But, I stand corrected, It's a Britney Spears' song, not a spelling bee. And how about her "Hit Me Baby One More Time" song? It goes like this.."When I'm not with you I lose my mind, give me a sign, hit me baby one more time." We'll don't tell she wants to get hit by a baseball bat in the head. I don't really get it.

I just looked up the lyrics to the "if you seek amy" song and I really don't see anything wrong with them? And what's wrong with the "hit me baby one more time" its not at all about getting hit with a baseball bat... its more so like - just ocme back one more time.
She drops the f bomb every once in awhile in some of her songs which are censored appropriatly for the radio/television.
Why aren't you asking more like.... "how does eminem get away with his lyrics?" his are WAY more controversal!

oh, hi. we were wondering what she meant about being hit once more.. so there it goes, as danitykane says it's just about how one interprets the lyrics. as for eminem, the city council in my place also passed an ordinance banning his cleaning out my closet song from the airwaves, at least for the city's FM radio.

Ok... first of all you MUST tell me where you live because out of any of the eminem songs, "cleaning out my closet" has got to be one of the least explicit song out there! lol

Hi gingerale,
Yes I do, when I first heard of her new single from Circus album (If You Seek Amy) I was just surprised that maybe shes giving a double meaning of it. For me, it was like a new strategy to get some attention from the media or something. Likewise, with her very first single that hit the nation (well not just nation.. its like worldwide hit) and the title is also "hit".. me baby one more time.
Anyway, as I carefully think about it, it maybe giving us some hint about a certain topic or it wanted to catch some attention...but it is always how we (the listeners) take it. If we think that the lyrics are inappropriate but others think that it was completely rational and has nothing explicit about it, then it was still up to the people.. I guess. We have our opinions on different matter but others have too, so its kinda hard to push how we think about it. On the other hand she might also claim that the song was not about "that" right?!
Happy Lotting!
