Has anyone else heard of this?
Doctors are telling patients that if you are showing signs of flu like symptoms, they will do a swab test to see if you test positive for influenza. They will NOT test you to determine if you have seasonal flu or H1N1.
If you test positive for influenza, they will diagnose/report you as having H1N1...even though they do not know which flu you have.
The doctors state the test for H1N1 is way too expensive, not covered by insurance and takes 3-4 weeks to receive the result.
Now I know I read in the newspaper that the results for H1N1 takes 3-4 days. But now doctors are telling everyone no, it takes 3-4 weeks and costs hundreds of dollars.
What happened here? The newspapers are reporting large numbers of people with H1N1, but in reality, those people could have nothing more than the seasonal flu.
And what I am reporting here is solid fact. Came straight from our doctor's office, per the doctor himself and his nurse. Also heard from someone in California who states her doctor told her the exact same thing.

Hi Rowan,
It is silly the whole thing..it makes me wonder if Drs etc know what on earth they are doing let alone saying. There are enough of them wrongly diagnosing people, giving operations and taking the the wrong thing off or out of a person..it is scary the whole medical proffession nowadays..even the flu they get wrong or don't know what you have! Hi Little Owl! You're right...I'm hearing from so many moms who are all telling me the same thing...no matter what they take their kids in to the doctors for, the doctors are all diagnosing them as having H1N1 and treating them for it. Doctors should be keeping a calm head above everyone else and yet they're panicking the most. It's very sad and very scary.
