What?? No offense meant for the person in question, but I don't think it's appropriate to ask someone to give them best response. I mean, it should be upon the sole discretion of the person who started the discussion. I guess BEST RESPONSE should speak for itself, right?

None of my friends have ever asked me to select their response as the best response and even if they did, I would not actually chose their response as the best response if it was not good enough to be the best response. As it is, it is difficult enough to choose a best response because there are so often so many great reponses, and to have the added pressure from a friend would make it that much more difficult.

No one has ever asked me to give a best response to their discussion, but then I haven't marked any so far too. There are many users on mylot, like me, who do not notice to give a response the best response tag, which ideally all users should do. This could be one reason why he asked you to do so, I dont think its wrong if he just reminds you, if you feel its good you should go ahead and mark it as a best response. Its also said.. A friend in need is a friend indeed..!! :) However, I thank you for posting this question, I will start marking responses as Best Response from now onwards :)

helloo anuragi, He can be funny but asking you to give him the BR often is a NO-NO joke, I have learn a lot from the Old Ciao when it comes to this, asking then for you to do that is a form of abuse and demanding selection of br, because it decreases the quality of the discussion, don't give it just because it demands too but because you personally chose to. me, NO, unless i chose to, like what my friends do./

Hello anurag.... I cannot believe it....but I have to believe because it's direct from you....and it is not fair if friends select friend's response as BR...it's good you came open with it although you did not mention their name.....people are corrupted nowadays...

I have never had anyone ask me for the best response. Nor do I ask for one. To me, I will select the best response when I do find it is the most competitive one of all the responses. Sometimes it is hard to choose one best as there are some others that are of the best. lol

hi 1anu i had a friend who actually asked me to give him a "br" - i just replied "noted" which means i did not agree or disagree, so when i am choosing my "BR" it is always of my own decision on the respond maybe we have the same friend dear cheers

haha atlease one thing we have commmon. a br asking friend. he asks me to give him but in response i always encourage him to do better so that he can get in real and my respond must be genuine as selecting him as best. or some time i ask him to respond those discussions which dont have any responses. then he will be obviosly the best.

No Anurag, none of mine have ever asked, and I've never made such a request myself! It is rude to put anyone on the spot like that and I am sure it would not be in keeping with mylot policies! Karen

No my friends never ask me to select theirs as the best response as that is rude and if they did ask i would say i would read all the responses before i choose one that deserved it.

No they don't and neither do I ask, as to me it is up the one that started the discussion to choose whoemver they want. I don't ask anyone to gibe me best response, as maybe my response, isn't worthy of a best response anyway. I do enjoy giving them, and getting them, but I am certainly not going to beg anywone to give me best response. If my response is worthy of getting the best response, then great, and if it isnt', then that is fine too. I really think in a way, it is rude to ask another person to give them the best respones, when in essence their answer may not be the best. I am not here to win a popularity contest either, so I will not ever ask anohter person to give me best response. It is their choice not mine. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

No, and if they did, they would be immediately deleted from my friends list. The Best Response should go to the person whose response is best, not somebody on your friends list who asks for BR. As it happens, most of my BRs go to my friends, simply because they respond to my discussions regularly and we are on the same wavelength. But the BR choice is mine and mine alone, and it is awarded on the strength of the response, not the identity of the responder.

No one has ever asked me this. Thank goodness or I would not know how to respond. It was just last week that I discovered I had to rate responses to discussions I started. My dilemma was I had only 2 responses to one of my discussions. Anyway, I hoped I chose the best one. At any rate, now I do not have unresolved issues, I have rated all of the responses I received.
