If there is one thing you can change to improve people's lives or to change the world for the better, what would it be?

If we want the world to be better, there should be peace, love and unity between nations. So, if there is one thing I must change, that must be the values of all humans living on earth. We cannot achieve a change for a better world if we ourselves don't change from our selfish ways.

The thing I would do, although it would be impossible, is to take away all forms of money in society. Money is the source of many major problems, and it is consumes us every minute of every day. Money causes greed, people who have it want more of it. People who need it to survive, because in this world you need money just to live, can't get it because no one is generous enough to give it away. If money was gone, all of this greed and poverty would be gone. Everyone would not need to pay for things. Everything is free in a sense, but you will still need to work. Let's say, for example, after the idea of money is destroyed, a person who works at a store must give away all the products for free. However, in return, this person will also receive from society all essentials without having to pay, either. I think this would make the world a much better place, but I don't think this will happen because people would not want to.

You beat me to it! I was going to say money too. Back in history, much was done on a barter system. You could trade some eggs for some milk. Labor for clothing. Things like that. But, as you say, greed (and I think more importantly capitalism) has permeated through the essence of what humanity is all about. We've forgotten other values, or abandoned other values in our quest for money. Also fear plays a huge factor. Fear of being kind to others or helping others. The truly sad thing about it all is, there's no going back. We're stuck with it now because it's gone on for too long.

Yes, the bartering system was much better. Today's world lives only on money. Things that didn't exist in the past, but are made important today. We need money to go to a college, for example. To live in a big house. Money, in my opinion, is overused . . . I do disagree with you when you say there's no going back. I truly believe that in the future money will be eliminated, and things will be like they are in Star Trek . . . Hopefully I can either contribute to this coming true, or I at least live long enough to see this happen.

hi sheetalnr to me it would be to simply help as many people around you as you can, and then do not take thanks or presents, tell each one to pay it forward. Help someone else, or two someone elses or as many as you can.one stipulation only do not thank me,just payit forward. help as many as you can and always ask just pay it forward. soon the world is a better place a happy place as people start caring for each other.
