I know everyone has done it including myself..there is a song out there that you sing to or have sang before and have completely been singing the wrong lyrics or words the whole time. It's embarrassing I know especially if you are with someone that knows the real lyrics and tells you that what you have been singing all this time is wrong. Mine worst one would have to be R.E.M's Losing My Religion I always thought since I was young that he said "Let's pee in the corner, Let's pee in the spotlight. but the real lyric actually goes "That's me in the corner, That's me in the spotlight" It was my husband that was the one to break my heart and tell me that that is the stupidest version of it he had ever heard and why would i think he was peeing in the corner? Well I don't know that is just what my brain was hearing LOL well I now of course think it is ubsurd but I was young then and that is the excuse I am sticking with. So what about you is there a song like that out there for you and what is it? What did you think the lyrics where and what are the real lyrics?

haha. I have!!! Just a month ago, I heard beyonce's song on the radio... I thought its..."eagle, such a huge eagle". Funny because, I was singing it like I know the lyrics and I thought that, it was an eagle and the characteristic of the person shes talking about in the song was strong like an eagle. Then when I ran to my pc and check its lyrics.. it says "ego, such a huge ego". haha,. Well it sounded eagle though... i just laugh about it.. I actually have lots of "my own version" of songs...I think its how you sing it, if you sing it well and believes thats the lyrics of the song you're singing, then they will not notice it... haha.. Happy lotting!

LOL! This happened to me while I was singing Unwritten by Natasha Beddingfield. My sister corrected me on my lyrics, which I was singing over and over again. hahahah. In my mind, the lyrics were 'release your INNER VISION, ... live your life with arms wide open THROUGH THE YEARS, where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten.".. My sister was laughing so hard when she heard me, first of all, inner vision should be Inhibitions ( it sounded the same right?!) and Through the years should be TODAY IS... hehehehe. Well, I admit through the years is a little off when it comes to the logic of the sentence, but it sounded like it, so I thought what the hell right? ehhehee.

Hehehehehehe...that is so funny because I was singing the same thing...I so thought she said release your INNER VISION, I knew the other part but i had no idea that is what she was saying. OMG it makes so much better sense with the word inhibitions in there. LOL I am sure I will still sing it worng only because I have been singing it like this for so long but i will at least make sure I sing it right in front of people now LOL Thanks for your response.

It sure does make it fun finding out after all this time you were singing it wrong but you know what else is even funnier is when you know the right words and someone else is singing it wrong....LOL I love telling a person the right lyrics especially if they are really off from the real words. I don't try to be mean it is just funny seeing their faces when they realize they are wrong Thanks for your response

That's so funny, Froggie. You didn't think it a bit odd that he was singing about his religion and peeing all in one song? Ya, we've all done it. One that comes to mind is that song by Beck...Baby your a lost cause. We were all in the car one day and that song came on. My daughter started singing along in the backseat....Baby your a Llama. It took several times of her listening to the song before she would believe us that her lyrics were funny but not right. Anyway, thanks for the giggles. Can't wait to see the other responses!

Actually I did find it strange sid but I didn't know it was the early 90's when grunge was coming in and who knows what everyone was on back then, I just assumed it was another messed up song like The Doors used to sing LOL.... That is cute about your daughter, I had to go in and find that song and I could so see where she would think he says that...she isn't too far off and frankly I think I like her version better LOL Thanks for your response

Yep - I've done it many times. Sometimes with my favorite band - Hanson. Taylor likes to make the lyrics difficult. I swear that boy is going to kill us fans! We recently had a Q and A with the band and someone asked about the lyrics to a song...we all knew it but not the real version. It was "I turned 20 five days ago" but we weren't sure if it was "I turned 25 days ago" there are some that i actually have to go look the lyrics up to know I am singing it right. However, I love the way the songs sound in the end and wouldn't change it for the world...but a lyrics booklet would be nice! lol

Hi friend, your topic is interesting also funny. I think everyone crossed and had the experience. sometime i don't know the exact lyrics but i wanna fulfill the song thats why i use wrong words. Most of them doing the same they just wanna fulfil the music and song so they will match and insert some other words to sing... hehehehe we never know but if someone hear our song they will make us crazy

Hehehe I have also did a few lalalala hums in the place of words I don't know just to make it sound good...or I know my favorite thing to do is to just hum it all but the last word of each line because that is normally the only part of the song I know LOL Thanks for your response

My problem is that sometimes I can only remember part of the song. So I end up singing it over and over. It can get really annoying. Can't say I remember a wrong lryic, but I am sure I have.

That is funny froggieslover. I think everyone has had that experience. I remember cher had a song once where the realy lyric was "just like a child without a home." I heard just like a child without a horn. There are other songs like that where I couldn't distinguish the lyrics and just kind of made something up that didnt really make sense.

Evening snowy.....I really like your spin on your that song, I know what song your talking about too and I think it would make total sense for the kids to not have a horn either LOL....Thanks for your response!

I can't remember any songs in particular because girl Im always singing to something and no I dont have the greatest voice on the block, can't help it, lol but I've had that happen to me with a few songs that now when I buy a new cd with actual lyrics or I'll be on my computer and look up Lyricfreak and be like, oh, oh thats what they were saying its so funny but i loved your story, it made me laugh.

There are more that I screw up to but that is the one I think it was the worst and the one I get made fun of for the most. I don't have the greatest voice either that is why I always sing in the bathroom the most, the acoustics in there make me sound like I am a professional that had lessons for years I am too afraid to look up any new song lyrics for fear there are other great songs I am screwing up. Thanks for your response revellanotvanella!

Hahahaha! LOL! That lyrics is funny! Yes. I've sang some songs with wrong lyrics but I've done this during my childhood days. Until now sometimes I sing a song with a wrong lyrics without knowing that my lyrics are wrong. If that's what I heard, then that's what I'm going to sing. It makes me laugh out load when I'm checking the real lyrics of the song and I feel so embarrassed too!

Hahaha...I am like that too. I would rather sing it wrong and enjoy it then have to try and retrain myself to learn it the real way after singing it so long the wrong way. Thanks for your response =)

I have many incidents of singing the wrong words! Hahaha. My friends simply make fun of me when I do so. So, to be safe, I usually ask my friends who know the song for the lyrics, or at times I simply hum along to the tune. This is totally embarrassing! Hahahah :) Nice discussion by the way. :) Happy MyLotting!

I am just going to say it is them. Thanks for your response!

Yes, it also happened a lot to me. When I heard a song that i like, i often singing them a loud. I sing it with confidence although i am not sure if the lyrics is true or false. Anyway, there is nothing wrong with singing with a false lyrics since usually i only sing for my self. But, if i really like the song i usually buy it cs/ cassette and then from their album i can see the true lyrics ( if they provide one ) and start singing it with the right lyrics. Thanks

Hehe..I am alright with singing them wrong especially when I don't even know that I am singing them wrong in the first place. If I have the cd then I normally end up looking at the lyrics as long as the cd has it but if it doesnt or I dont have the cd then I will just end up singing what I think it says LOL Thanks for your response!

I usually forgot the lyrics but rhythm and music always kept in my mind .So only words become different from actual but who cares , it is now my own creation with new lyrics :).

I need the music and rhythm just to remember a song anymore. Someone will start singing a song and then "throw me the mic" so to speak and I will be like DUH...I have no clue without the music..sing me the tune and maybe I can help you but other than that forget it. Thanks for your response

Thats really funny! I have confused some lyrics in songs before and yes its embarrassing when you get caught out! My husband, however, is terrible with song lyrics, he can never remember them and sings along without a clue. Even though he knows he isn't singing the right words, he will just make up his own!

It is total opposite here, my husband knows almost all lyrics and I am the one that makes up lyrics on my own. He is always correcting me when I am wrong but at least he does it in a playful way so I don't get my feelings hurt. LOL I think as long as they words sound good and like they should fit there than just let it be HEHEHE Thanks for your response.
