HOW did I get this snort?

I'm twenty-eight years old. And until a year ago, when I laughed it was quite normal. But for about a solid year now when I laugh, I inevitably snort. And laugh, then snort. It doesn't seem to bother anyone around me. In fact, it makes them crack up even harder. At first I thought it was allergies. I mean, how else to explain a snort that magically appears so late in my life? I do have severe allergies about 9 months out of the year.
Could someone tell me a theory of why I do this when I laugh now? I'd like to get rid of it. No one has complained so far, but I'm thinking someday it is going to get on someone's nerves! Do any of you have some habit or characteristic you picked up, but didn't have for most of your life?

I have read that you are starting a snorting journal, now that should show if there is a pattern to your mysterious snort! It sounds as though it could well be allergies or something like that.
As I am getting older I find all these funny little niggly things are happening to my body, for example, if I sit on the floor for too long it is hell getting up again or if I cross my legs for too long one of my feet will go to sleep. Not sure what it is... I’ve heard it’s called old age...

Have your allergies gotten worse as you've gotten older? I'd say it is something to do with that. I don't know really, our body changes as we get older. I just turned twenty-six and I haven't noticed anything different yet- except when I stand up from a seated position on the floor I make 'uuuggh'' noises, usually followed by 'gee I'm getting old!'.
Let is know how you go with your snorting journal.

Oh my gosh I think it is so cute when people snort while laughing!!! My boyfriend does it every now and then and so do some of my friends!! I think it is the funniest thing ever, but at the same time I'm thankful I don't do it because I know I would die of emberrassmend!! I am sure I have developed things that I never did befre but I can't think of any at the moment!! Happy Snorting =)

I am thinking that you may snort now when you laugh because of something to do with your nasal passages. I think it is allergies, to be honest. I know when people snore it's because of something to do with breathing....

I can't explain the snort but have heard people do that when they laugh. All my bad habits i have had all my life, don't guess they are going anywhere at this late date, lol.

Maybe you just never laughed hard enough before? It might have something to do with your allergies. Do you snort while laughing during the 3 months that you have no allergy problems? That time of year must be coming up...winter, right? You'll have to report back to us, then we'll know.

Ambie...my dear, sorry this is TOOOOO funny for me to give a serious reply...and I don't want you laughing and hurting your back! Sometimes, when I pick up little "icks" or "ticks", I find, once I am aware of them, they are more emphasized because I am trying to break the link. And, truly, it is possible that it is related to your allergies. I might suggest a Dr's appt., just to make sure that there is nothing physically wrong..IF NOT...JUST HAVE ANOTHER SNORT! (Here in B.C., having another Snort, is having another drink!)
You take care, I worry about you...and you haven't given us a progress report, please say you are more comfortable now, and taking care of yourself is not so painful! Have a painless, restful weekend, dear girl...and KNOW you are being thot of! HUGZ..and Cheers!
