Not just cats, but other pets, too!

It's that time of the year again--time for Halloween. And time for people who abuse pets--especially black cats, but other animals, too. I want to be clear, here, I'm talking about phony, wanna-be "witches," the sort who play at "magic" & devil worship, & perform horrendous acts of torture & sacrifice on animals. I am NOT talking about Wiccans. I don't subscribe to their religion, but I also know very well they are not behind this evil behavior. That said, this is a timely WARNING. PROTECT YOUR PETS. Don't wait til the actual DAY of Halloween, get them inside & safe NOW. THIS is the time the perpetrators of such nastiness are looking to kidnap your cats, dogs, & anything else that strikes their fancy. It does happen, though it's not "common." But do you want to risk your pet becoming the one who gets hurt & killed this year? It might not even hurt to keep them safe the rest of the year, too. There are plenty of dangers from normal outside events, you know. Cars, poisoners, bratty kids who tie firecrackers to their tails, or leave rubber bands around their legs, which make the limbs rot off, other dangerous animals, & even some unscrupulous sorts who take animals & sell them as lab fodder! You needn't believe me, Google up the records on these things. Ask the police. Ask the animal shelters & rescuers. I don't want to read a single horror story this year on November 1st, all right? Ask St Martin de Porres to help you watch over your pets & all animals! Maggiepie "OBAMA IS AN 'UNDOCUMENTED WORKER.'"

Yes this is a very bad time of the year for black cats. I know a lot of pet rescuers and they NEVER adopt out black cats around Halloween since there are all kinds of sickos out there. well I've lived in an apartment situation and have had cats all my life (including black ones, and have one now) and have never let cats outdoors...but even with people living at homes I can never figure out why people allow their pets especially cats roam around in their backyards thinking they are safe..they aren't! And not just around Halloween but any time of the year. Oh, one common thing that is done especially to small dogs...say a person takes a walk with their dog and they decide to go grocery shopping...they tie the dog on a pole...then they come out and find the dog missing. Why? Because some one snatched the dog..and more often enough for bait for dog fights.

Argh. I confess I hadn't even thought of that. I pity the fool who tries to nap any dog in front of me! "Why officer! I just can't imagine how the man got those bruises all over him! 0:o) (halo emoticon needed here...) Hmmm, yes, they do rather resemble my walker's legs, don't they? What a coincidence!" I agree with you.we shall keep our pets safe, not just on Halloween but also all day, everyday.we should not let these muggers hurt our beloved pets.it's like they're hurting a member of our family.our pets are part of our families, and we must care for them.

Absolutely. It's the least we can do for these loving creatures. They give us so much, & ask for so little. Well, my cat does mug me for treats all the time, but I'm just sayin'.... Maggiepie "OBAMA IS AN 'UNDOCUMENTED WORKER.'"

My cats never ever go outside. They also have their claws. I get angry and so upset by what humans will do to cats, and other animals for amusement, inflicting pain and fear. This is a wonderful posting, thank you for it.

Brava, Elic. I never doubted you'd be wary & mindful, but many are totally unaware this even happens...until it happens to them. That's just too sad to contemplate, so I always put out a reminder. I used to do it on the former local talk show guy's radio program, but you know how I can't take Jeff Ward. Ugh. Tho, I suppose, maybe for this just cause, I could hold my nose & call him.... Moral and spiritual progress of a nation is measured by attitudes towards animals and unfortunate fact is that human cruelty has no boundaries, worldwide media and various organizations agitate for the welfare of man to man,but this will not happen even often 1000 years if he relationship human -animals are not radically change in a positive direction.,it is not enough just trying to protect their own pets,it is necessary to work towards a change of consciousness in people love animals like love themselves just so they change occurs.... PS: If you do not like your selves at least not hurt those who are completely helpless to human cruelty!
