I have noticed that many of them do it too
Maybe they think that Lotters are more likely to respond to a discussion started by a female?
Some of them even put 'female' instead of 'male' in their profile and that could cause them to lose their account because all the information in our profiles should be correct.

I have noticed this too with some of the members. Some of them even show a photo of a young girl, yet they say they are 80 years old and male. Now that is what is really funny. I think some members just think we will respond to a lady faster then a man. But truthfully I don't notice, if its male or female when they post.

Yes of course, they are placing the female photos to attract more people and thus to increase profile visits. It is a kind of business tactics. The intention is not good.

I agree with the previous responses. I think people do it because they think more people will look at them. Even if it is a woman, the picture might not be of them anyway! I am a woman, but decided to use flowers for my picture, which will change with the seasons - in fact it is time to start using a more wintry one.

you are right, JohnJeff! i agree with you in this one. it's better to put an avatar that's not related to human rather than putting photo of the opposite gender.
i really don't get the idea of people doing that. maybe they can get more responses/replies for their discussions/comments? i wonder...
