Do you ever talk to your computer and tell it off when its just not doing what you want it to? My son often says you are just talking to an inanimate object, so why get all steamed up? Of'
course he is perfectly right. But I do find myself actually'
telling my computer off if it is slow, or not just moving like
I want it to. I know this is silly and all that, but I ask you Am I the only one who gets angry at this inanimate piece of machinery?

Yeah I get mad at the mouse at work sometime because it has side buttons and sometime I bump it accidentally and it takes my page back.
or I hit the wrong key and mess things up. I get frustrated sometime.
It is funny because one time someone was like who you talking to? I was like computer LOL

- Oh yes, I have said some pretty wild and angry things to my computer. It's a good job it's not a real person, or I reckon it was have stopped working for me years ago.
I try to be careful now and shout at the software and not so much the machine, as that can be reinstalled if it decides to stop talking to me! - Derek

ah nothing new in me telling the computer what i think of it. especially when it wants to move the curser somewhere else while i'm typing or the internet is really slow, plus what ever else is going wrong. i think we all do it to everything when we get frustrated with it all.

Hello HAtley, much as I hate the computer it bores me too much to feel an emotion worth expressing towards it.
Does this count instead, my language turns a shade blue when I'm stuck behind a tourist driver on the mountain road, it's a kind of non agressive road rage, I'm not ever going to step out of my car and confront a person but I sure take it out behind the confines of my steering wheel.

[b]Hello my friend
I am sure there are plenty people who do this, I don't only because there is usually a reason why these things happen, so I sweet talk my baby and say things like please don't do this to me lol and eventually things work out, I tend to treat my computer the way I treated my car, I love them so much so I try not to make them feel bad lol, this is just my way

hi kitty thats the way I should be doing, shame on me
'treat it with kindness, handle it with care, somehow
that statement comes from something I have read but
I am having a senior moment, cannot say where I heard
that, but I could use that well with my dear computer.

It's not the computer Hatley...it's my car. She's a lovely little girl and I punish her dreadfully sometimes on rough roads and driving through flood waters like I did the day before yesterday. I pat her on the dash board and tell her how wonderful she is and how lucky I am to have her for my car...

I'm not convinced that it's inanimate, although I know it's a machine. My computer gets called lots of name, my current favorite is "you stupid jerk". The reason that I question whether it's inanimate is because it tends to get worse perportionately with the names I'm calling it. If I turn it off in disgust and go do something else, another member of the family will sit down and have NO problems at all! My computer is vindictive and has a long memory...lol.

Another way to illustrate the vindictiveness of the computer is in the quality of typing. I can type a paragraph with correct spelling, spacing and punctuation...and if I've been calling the computer names, it will mess it up when I post it. Drop a few letters, jumble others up and take out spaces. Surely it's no ME doing all those mistakes...

you're not alone on this one.. I think a lot of people talk to their computers, or their cellphones, specially if they're not functioning right.. My pet name for my netbook is "you stupid piece of sh*t".. LOL. Specially when it hangs for no apparent reasons. hahaha.
sometimes I ask them ( or it ),"what's the hell is wrong?" or "what the hell is bothering you now?".. notice that I don't use soothing language when talking to them. hahahah.

ingkingderders hi hey maybe we are on the wrong'
track, maybe we must smother the darned things
with honeyed words to sweet talk it into
behaving like it should. I also never have
used kind words to it, maybe thats my mistake.

hi rosepedal65. oh I felt so funny the other day,it was
'making one error after another and I was talking away
at it, and one of the caregivers was standing here. I
had not heard her come in and she said, are you okay?
I think she figured I had suddenly gone looney tunes
for sure. Here of course there are a few older ones
who are missing a few wires in their heads so I guess
maybe she thought oh oh she is losing it. he he.[

hi quita88 yes indeed. Oh I have done a lot of name
calling on my poor computer too. I know its a piece
of inanimate material too,but I guess its so much
of me in some ways, like I am scolding myself for
being inept.
