You are what you wear?

I know that style is a personal preference but the truth is people judge you by what you where and how you look. It's a sad fact but true, so what are the most neutral clothes to wear in an unfamiliar location? For example I never go to dance clubs so I wouldn't know what to wear if I decided to go. My most comfortable clothes are jeans and t-shirt usually with a band logo on it. What kind of clothes would you wear to a dance club playing techno if you really aren't into that type of scene? My first thought is don't go if you don't like it but sometimes your significant other forces you too. In these uncomfortable situations whats the most comfortable way to go?

i'm not fussed on what people think of me, i'm comfortable in my trackies for work and round the place. but when we go out i usually wear jeans and a nice top, along with low heels.
