I think the best advice I got was about being sick. It was given to me by a friend. Once at university I was really sick and was at my dorm, lying in bed feeling sorry for myself. He came in, stuck his head on my door, and said if you want to get well, stop lying around, and work at getting well. Ever since, I haven't been really sick. If I was under the weather, I still go to work.
I only take sick days to play hookie.

arm.. lets see..
dont put all your eggs in one basket,
dont count your chickens before they hatch,
dont poo in your bed if you intend to sleep in it,
the grass always seems to be greener on the other side,
always be polite, people like politness and tend to be drawn to it rather than rudeness.
they are just a few i can think of atm..

The best advice i ever received was from my daddy when i was in a problem and did not know what to do.Then he told me that always "listen to your heart because your heart will never say the wrong thing."
